Trying to make sure there are no red flags for AOS or how to take care of them.

I noticed that my boyfriend and I have some red flags.

• Unequal educational background. Studies show that most women don’t believe they could admire a man less educated than they; and that men put intelligence and education at number five on their ranking of desirable qualities in a mate. So if one person in the couple is highly educated and the other not, expect questions.

He has a masters degree from his country and I only have a high school education with a diploma of completed courses at a technical school for being a Medical Administrative Assistant.

• Marriage soon after a divorce. Again, this would indicate that the “courtship” was suspiciously short. (Or you might have to prove the existence of a long affair!)

His current marriage has been over for awhile, and the divorce has not been finalized yet. How soon is too soon? Also this wont be his 1st divorce, the time between divorce from wife 1 and marriage to wife 2 is about 5 years. None of these were to any USC or LPR.

• Impoverished U.S. citizen or resident petitioner. If the U.S. member of the couple lacks a job or apparently needs money, the immigration authorities might wonder whether he or she is looking to make some quick bucks through a fraudulent marriage.

I lost my temp job that I had because of a few errors on the company side, unsure why their computers kept messing up when they would type in my last name, and have been looking for work for many months now, just worried I wont get a job between now and the AoS filing/interview. We have a few people that are be the sponsors for both I-134 and I-864, my mother whom I live with, and one of his friends that became a lpr last year.

Has anyone gotten a denial with all these three red flags? I assume I would need to address this on a cover letter stating that I have been having a hard time looking for work, and also attach any conversations about it with my boyfriend as more evidence of a relationship. In our eyes we do have a bonafide relationship, we plan on living at my mother's place till we can get off our feet, we wont have any bills in our name since everything is in my mother's, he will be added to my cellphone network. We will have a shared bank account and insurance once one or both of us have work, and thinking of us getting a Costco and some other memberships that are in the area for more proof.

PS. I'm thinking ahead so we can take care of the problems before they happen and get the denial.

How did you meet? How long have you been dating?

Is he in the US? What is his current status? When does that current status expire?

What is the age difference between you two?

Red flags can be overcome if your relationship makes sense. Asking us to guess about flags is unlikely to turn up anything useful unless you explain the whole situation. Good luck.

Are you filing an I-129f to eventually get him a K1? I'm asking because you mentioned the I-134.

How did you meet? How long have you been dating? We meet where I had a long term job as front desk at a hotel, I remember giving him mail at his door a few times noticed that he might be a gamer because of his keyboard is from Starcraft 2. The day before my birthday I had asked him about it, and we started talking since then. Him and the other long term guests threw me a birthday party since I had to work that evening, right now I have a handful of people I know from Russia because of that job. The hotel I worked at houses people for long term stays, one of the companies in the area sponsor's people from out of the country for j-1s. In fact I live right down the road from where he goes everyday. We have been dating since August 2015. I learned about his marriages and children before we started dating.

The job offer I had accepted in order for me to leave the hotel was in the field of my study, but my father passed away a few days after my training; with 10-12 hour long work days I could not keep up with the overwhelming stress this new job and was fired. My father had a heart attack in front of my family. Since I have been out of work, I have been helping my mother with paper work, and taking care of my special needs nephew. I have been at least on one interview a week, I am signed up with temp agencies, and nothing has came up.

Is he in the US? What is his current status? When does that current status expire? He is currently in the USA on a J-1 till November of this year, he is also not required for the 2 year home. I read his paper work.

What is the age difference between you two? We are 4 years apart, same age gap between my mother and father, in fact my father was from Canada, but my boyfriend is from Russia.

EM_Vandaveer As of right now, that is the plans, but plans might change with me moving to Russia for awhile and us getting married there and getting DCF. I would qualify for that as long as I was married and lived there for 6 months as a temp resident if I read the site right.

That all seems reasonable to me. So I would focus on proving that you have a real relationship instead of thinking too hard about red flags. Good luck.

As a side note, I have been trying to learn Russia, so far I can get about 5% of things being said.

My nephew's special needs are he is ADHD, Autism and has behavior defiant disorder. And no child care will take him that is in the area. Right now his doctors and therapist are trying to get it set up so either my mother or I can get paid for being his caregiver.

As for the affidavit of support. The income is from my fathers retirement from the Military, his life insurance and pension from where he was working at at the time. Which makes her able to be a sponsor for herself and someone else, if we add all the money she has received(Assists) and the difference between "annual income of rewards" she should be able to support herself, my boyfriend and I. I would assume they would be going by x5 here. Just not sure how I would put this package together. Reward letters, death certificate? Last known Id, both military and drivers? The paper work says she gets these rewards for the rest of her life.

I have been trying to look for many weeks about this topic and get an idea from other peoples experiences, and seems I am failing at finding my answers, the one that started to make me panic was the flag for lack of a job, I'm marring him for love and not money, even in fact I know money in general with us being together would be tight because he would have to have to pay for child support. Yes I have told him to make sure he keeps a document of each time he he pays.

I am really glad that you had posted on my thread. Since most of the threads I was reading and great knowledge has been coming from you and me reading what happened to other people have seemed to match up.

Even in fact someone said that you are one of the most reliable and most informed person on these forums. I think that post was from 2013.

I have been trying to read these forums about once a day for the last 4 months, heck sometimes I spend all my day reading these forums when I'm burnt out from looking for work, I apply to about 40 job posting each week. And sometimes I fall asleep while reading the forums at bed time! Whoops!

Yes it might seem that I am trying to push the cart before the horse, I'm just trying to make sure we wont have any hiccups, or minimal hiccups during this processes since I know it will take years for it to complete. Don't want to get to the end and get both of us broken hearted because of the government says no because of some random thing that I could have done today to prevent it.

I just looked at the red flags... my husbands parents came here from Brasil, are just living fine money-wise and my husband never got a degree after highschool and hes actually 3 years younger..

I am dutch, have a highschool degree, lived in a big house and a life where i could have anything i wanted...

Those are all red flags according to that website (education, wealth, ethnics, age (the girl being older)), but we went through the process in a breeze (except the Texas backlog but everybody had that.. red flags or none lol)

Honestly things have to look real bad for it to be a problem

I think you shouldn't worry about red flags unless you think yourself that your marriage is a fraud... you just have to convince them you 2 are legit... and how easy is it to proof things that are real?
