tourist visa from thailand

Greetings,

ok heres the deal. my g/f of 5.5 years would like to come to the US to visit. I have traveled dozens of times in past 6 years to Thailand. We currently share an apartment in Bangkok. We are not technically engaged and have no desire to get married if/when she comes to the states. She is 35 and I am 41. She is a partner in an accounting firm, owns a condo (has a mortgage), has a car note, owns 25 acres of farm land, no children. Our intentions are for me to semi retire there in next 3-4 yrs on our farm land.

I understand that the visa embassy staff might consider her to be a risk. We could just do a K1 visa but with my profession I travel continously within the US and she has no desire to live here in the US while I travel for work.

Question.... I was thinking of composing a letter for her to take to her interview stating that we are a couple but have absolutely no intentions of getting married here, explain my job situation, and include a travel itenerary for the 30 days she intends to be here. Would this help or will it even be considered?

She has to qualify on her own. Your documents are irrelevant. The CO will focus on HER ties and her likelihood to return.

She must focus on that.

I don't think it will do any good as your letter would entail exactly what anyone with good or bad intentions would say.

Also if she has no intention of living here what would be the benefit of the K1? To be used as a 1-time tourist visa? That is not its purpose plus she would have to stay here to complete the AOS.

I understand that she is high risk, especially with an intended 30-day stay, even though it seems you have no immigration intent.

You're probably better off not writing anything. You might raise a red flag and make her chances worse. It really is up to her to prove substantial ties to her home country and convince the CO she intends to return. Good Luck.

He falls into the boat the many Americans these days fall into. They are in a relationship for an extended period of time. They are making plans for their future together, they are planning to get married in the future, but he has not officially proposed to her. This is more common in the later generations (35+)

Engaged is engaged, if they've decided to marry then they're engaged. It doesn't need any down on one knee stuff, a ring or a big party to make it official.

Old schoolmate of mine just turned round to his girlfriend one night and said 'Fancy getting married then?', that was them engaged.

So the OP is either engaged or not

I agree. If marriage plans are being made, then they are engaged. So, K-1 is required.
