Ok so long story short my wife is originally from the Philippines. We have been married for 3 years now this coming October. We have a daughter who is 19 months old and has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. We have been stressed trying to handle this situation and well what do you know we now have a second child who was born this past May the 17th. My children are great but my daughter has made things a lot harder. I'm not complaining i want to stress I love my daughter more then words. With the addition of our son though trying to care for our daughter has gotten harder. So I was wondering is there any way I could bring one of my wifes sisters here for say a couple months to help us out during this time? It would not be to stay but to help out here. Or possibly even her mother. Everything I see online is about bringing someone over permantly and that's not our intention. Just wanting a short time to help take some of the pressure off. Any advice on where to look for information on this?

This type of 'help' is typically what you would hire someone in the U.S. for correct? Such as an 'in home care worker' or a 'nanny'.

Since this is the case, you cannot bring a family member over to the U.S. to work for your family. And caring for your disabled daughter, in this sense, would certainly be deemed as work.

I'm sorry, but I think you'll have to make other arrangements for the care of your disabled daughter. Have you looked into social services in your area that you may be entitled to because of her disabilities? Or perhaps catholic church organizations may offer some assistance.

Good luck

canadian_wife is right. It is considered work, which is illegal on a tourist visa. I truly am sorry for what you and your wife are going through.

God speed.
