Hi, does anyone know if you can apply for jobs while waiting for your green card? And what else do you need to to be able to apply for jobs (work permit? SSN? GC? all of it?) Thank you!

Yes you can. The stamped visa is your temporary GC   You need a SSN to get paid.. but not to apply for a job.. but best to get it in hand asap. Its a simple task . You will often need a SSN to get a driver's licence

Ahh ok, thanks! Regarding applying for jobs - I meant it more like that they often mention 'Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship' ...which basically means you need valid visa for working. As you say this temporary GC should satisfy this requirement :)

Do you know what documents are needed to open a bank account and set up health insurance?

Thank you!

The answer is yes .. Your green card /stamped visa is your evidence

varies state to state and institution to institution

usually evidence of lpr status, evidence of current residential address, SSN, some times birth certificate. Pretty easy to research online, call or visit in person.. thats what we all did .. .

It's normally within 60 days in Electronically submitted package cases ( If you are not holding any Package given to you by US consulate).

Do you happen to know how long it usually takes when holding a physical package from the embassy upon entry For GC/ SSN to arrive?
i wasn’t aware there was a difference 😓I figured they trigger it all right then and there when putting in the information

Direct Consular Filing - Frankfurt

03/14/2016 I-130 Sent

03/15/2016 Check cashed

03/16/2016 I-130 NOA1

04/19/2016 I-130 NOA2 (took two! weeks in the mail)

05/17/2016 Got Case# after emailing the Frankfurt Consulate

Continued application in 2022…

If you promptly handed over the physical package to the CBP officer when you made your first entry into USA,  then everything is normal and you will get your GC normally within 60 days. Please note that this worry happens with everyone until you get your GC. Best of Luck !

Hi everyone, I am new here, and just want to ask is it normally that it has been two weeks since "card is being produced" and nothing has changed?

Visa fee paid: Jan 3, 2023

POE: SEA Jan 21, 2023

My wife's case showed "card is being produced" on Mar 4, 2023, and nothing has changed since then, and my case's still remain visa fee received.

Once you’ve paid your immigrant fee and arrived into the country, is there a way you can track the GC processing? Does the uscis login allow you to track?

The immigrant may check by logging in to their myUSCIS account, or just enter the immigrant fee payment receipt number here -- https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

They already produce the gc?

yes, my wife's gc has been "card is being produced" for almost three weeks and mine just updated "card is being produced".

And coincidentally, there happen to be another friend of mine having the same exact situation  (however, his POE is LAX while mine is SEA and he came one month later than me). His family's gc updated "card is being produced" on the same date as my wife's and his gc updated "card is being produced" on the same date as mine, and also yet nothing has changed so far for both of our gc. so I'm not sure dose it mean its normal, or I guess uscis is busy working backloged OS155A files to get approved these days?
