Hello,

We recently received our NOA 2 and patiently waiting for the London case number before we go ahead and book the medical. Question, Do I need to wait for the London Case Number before I can fill out the DS-160?

I've had my shots and my police certificate should arrive this week, too. Happy days.

Cheers

John

Thanks for the help,

In haste, I have submitted the DS-160 with the wrong case number / reference. I used the WAC reference number used for checking the status on the UCIS website.

They have sent me back the DS-160 paperwork with the conformation page and barcode I should bring along for the interview.

Do you think this would be okay or should I have to start over and wait for the London #?

Ah, that is a very good question that I can't answer. You definitely jumped ahead on that one. Maybe you can get away with it but someone else should answer that. It's possible you can do another and then bring it with you to the interview. The problem I think is it matching up with anything that you do with the Police Report and the Medical. I do know you have to bring an original copy of your NOA2 to the interview.

I'm not sure how it managed to process even tho I gave the wrong #. Hopefully it won't make a difference.

I don't think there is any error logic on the field. It's just a text field since the systems don't talk to each other.

That field is supposed to be your WAC number because it says USCIS case number. The other is a Dept of State number. The good news is nobody has been rejected for using WAC or LND. Both work to identify you.

This is in the DS-160 FAQ

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/forms/ds-160--online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/frequently-asked-questions.html

Help: Application Receipt/Petition Number

If you are applying for a petition-based visa, your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

A K-1 Visa is a non-immigrant petition based visa so, I would think this would apply.

Apply in what way? Not following what you are saying. Are you agreeing with me saying it is the WAC number?

Also concerning what you said above.

The problem I think is it matching up with anything that you do with the Police Report and the Medical. I do know you have to bring an original copy of your NOA2 to the interview.

1) DS-160 has nothing to do with the police certificate or the medical. Does not match up either.

2) The NOA2 is for the US citizen to keep. It does not go to the visa interview.

I was agreeing with you that the WAC USCIS was probably OK.

My NOLO Book notes say an Original NOA2 was required at interview but fact maybe different.

Japan Police Certificate requires NVC Case #. I need to double check the Japan Medical but the site section not currently working.

I know for sure for a London interview, the OP is correct with the WAC number. There have been many discussions and people who did WAC or LND had zero problems. Win-Win situation even if you put LND.

Case number is not part of UK police certificate.

DS-160 is not seen by the medical folks so no matching there.

NOA 2 is not part of the London interview and hasn't been for at least 8 years If ever. They know you are approved and even mail the beneficiary a copy of the approved petition.

OP is on the right path.

Hi All,

Did anyone have any problems booking their K1 interview online with the DS-160 field? I've put in all the information including case number, passport number etc but when I try and submit I get the error 'DS-160, number already taken'

Cheers
