Still waiting for NVC ...

Hello,

Our I-130 petition got approved last 2016-05-27 and was sent to the department of state last May 31st 2016 ; till now we haven't got any feedback yet nor mails from NVC. I checked similar timelines here and found out most of them got a response more likely 2 weeks (14 days) after being sent out.

I'm just a bit worried though. My husband (the petitioner) keeps checking the mails daily, still none yet.

I noticed that NVC has been really slow in giving case numbers lately, so it might not just be you. Has your husband tried calling NVC?

Yes! That's the first advice they give you here in Visa Journey.

Call NVC since they might have it already. They won't be sending emails or anything. You definetly NEED TO CALL.

Yes, definitely! Unfortunately, NVC doesn't always send emails to let you know the progress of your case so it's greatly advisable to call once or twice a week until you get your case number. At this stage in the immigration process it's always better to be proactive

I just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience with the NVC.

My case is with the NVC, I called them to get an update on the status of my case and was told that the mail they received on May 26th with the supporting documents is pending. What does that supposed to mean, Shouldn't they be reviewing the documents? Also, they didn't send a mail or email to say they received the documents and I've known of other cases where the petitioner receive a response within 3 days of submitting documents.

My case is FB-1.

Any advise will help!

I didn't get an email either when they received my documents, so I called NVC and I was told that their automatic e-mailing system is currently down, but my documents were scanned when they were received. With your case being FB-1, I think your priority date needs to be current before NVC can review your case and schedule an interview for you. A visa will be available to you once your priority date is current.

Hi, thank you for your response. My priority date is June 2008 which is current and that's why I'm a little concerned. Nevertheless, I will just wait a week before I start calling again.

Oh ok, since your PD is current, you should give them at least 30 days to review your documents. They usually say 60 days but the average time lately has been 30.

NVC has been receiving a large number of mail/documents so I believe it's difficult for them to keep up. But I'm glad to hear you finally got your case number! Time to get the ball rolling

My husband had someone help us with the documents and the application. But I can't help myself to read through the process though so, I went to visit the CEAC website and found two area's for payment. Is it okay to proceed with the AOS fee and application fee without having the NVC packet at hand yet? Or it is wise to just wait for the documents before making any payment?
