Hi

I have another odd question.I talked to my Fiance the other day,he said he is going to send or Petition to a smaller office(St.Louis) instead of Nebraska where we should be filing.

We sent them the I129F before but they sent it back cos something was missing.

Is it okay to send it there? I am really not sure...but I am pretty sure it is fine cos they would of said "you cant file here" the first time,or something like that.

Anybody out there done the same?

I know that Nebraska does forward it to California anyway,so maybe it could really work out faster going to a smaller "Immigration office".

Maybe they even forward it to California.

Are you trying to outsmart the USCIS??? I don't think its a good idea. They may toss your I129-F to the side and have it sit there for 4 months until they send you a notice saying they dont take it there.

When it clearly tells you to mail to Nebraska, why would you decide to make up your own rule and send somewhere where it doesn't belong?

I have no idea,my Fiance said that he is going to mail it there.I told him to mail it to Nebraska but he did not want to listen.

His father works for the government and he said it would be fine to mail it to a smaller office. I am confused.

I agree, mailing it anywhere other than the address USCIS tells you to is likely to cause you more headaches. CSC will process the K-1 not the local office. It just might linger in the local office for months before anyone bothers with doing somthing with it.

A real bad idea. Tell your fiancee' to follow the guidelines.

Of course it's not 'okay' to send it there - what does it say on the instructions, 'mail to the service center with jurisdiction over your residence, or anywhere else you feel like mailing it?'

Sorry, that sounds a bit harsh, but... with all this stuff, you definitely, definitely, definitely need to follow the instructions given! Your fiance isn't going to speed things up by doing this - at best, your I-129F will fall into the hands of a nice person at the St. Louis office who will think 'this needs to go to NSC' and forward it on for you, at worst you'll end up like the couple whose (supposedly experienced) immigration lawyer filed their petition to the wrong place - with your petition in a black hole somewhere, with nothing happening at all. Either way, it's not going to help matters - nobody at the St. Louis office is going to adjudicate your petition for you!

On that note... send it to NSC if that's where it needs to go, rather than to CSC to cut corners. Pleeease tell your fiance to follow the instructions rather than trying to invent his own shortcuts, or you'll end up with a long & messy wait!

Good luck. :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

If shortcuts such as the one you describe actually worked, don't you think people here on VJ would be writing about them?

When you don't follow the instructions given by USCIS, you are only asking for trouble. Things can get complicated and messed up, even when you follow the instructions to a tee, so don't do anything to make it even worse.

Most people here on VJ want to do everything by the book, even to the point of being fanatical, and sometimes still encounter major delays.

Tell your fiance to start doing things the way USCIS wants them done.

Good luck.

Darn! I wanted to bypass CSC and NVC and send my packet directly to the embassy of my fiancee's country for faster processing! :crying:

Obviously, I hope you took that as a joke! It's Tuesday! :D
