Hi

I am new here and want to file n400 next month (I moved to a new state so I have to wait some more untill I can file). I have tax transcripts only for 2015 and 2014 since on 2013 I was still dependant on my parent tax returns. Would it be OK to send just 2 years back? I certainly do not want to get any RFEs.. Thanks!!

are you filing based on marriage to a USC? you should have 3 years of tax transcripts, otherwise you will have to wait for 5 years.

Thank you akihon, I am at my 5 years of GC holder. I have my GC due to my mother's marriage to a US citizen. Conditions were removed a couple of years ago (they divorced) and I have my non conditional 10 yr GC for myself , and I am now applying for naturalization. I filled taxes only on 2014 and 2015 , on the years before that I was a minor and was claimed on my moms tax returns, plus I did not have many earnings (high school student and later college student:-) hope this clarifies some more and what should I do with not having 5 yrs tax returns? and what do I write on thepart 12 question 7 A on the form?

Should have disclosed all that in your opening post =)

I'm not sure, really, so I shouldn't give you any advice. I've seen around VJ that people who were making less than necessary to file taxes or were unemployed, had to write a letter included in their packet as to why they don't have the tax returns.

Hey there!

If you're not obtaining citizenship by means of marriage then I don't think tax transcripts are required. It wasn't required for my cousin who did his back in 2010.

great, that makes sense! the only thing is there is a question " have you ever not filed a federal, staet tax return since becoming a lawful permanent resident"? guess I have to answer "yes" I just hope that will not cause an RFE?

It would be best to include a statement as to why you did not file for that year, i.e. that you were not required to file because you did not make enough money or were a dependent on someone else's taxes.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
