Hi all! I am scheduled for an interview this coming Thursday and here is the list of documents that I have prepared:

1. Form I-693

2. Affidavit of Support

  • 2 months paystub
  • Income Tax Returns/W2
  • Letter from current employer
  • Spouse's birth certificate

3. Approved I-129F with all NOA (to establish eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident status)

4. Immigration related documents - Visa and I-94. I dont have the EAD and the authorization for advanced parole documents yet

5. My birth certificate/hubby's birth cert and passport/son's birth cert, I-94, passport and visa

6. Marriage Cert/Annulment documents/hubby's birth cert./son's birth cert

7. Photos and other supporting documents establishing our relationship

8. Police Clearance (just to make sure)

I just followed the instructions from the NOA and I just prepared whatever documents they need on the interview.

Do I need to add other documents? Am I missing anything?

Only need to bring what is listed on the I-797 (that are checked).

Most of the questions during the interview will be about you and your husband, the house you live in, the automobile you drive and so forth.... things you should know if living together ;)

Hi! Here's my update: I went to my appointment today and the nice officer said my i-485 is approved! The interview lasted 10 minutes! She said I should be recieving my green card within 2 to 3 weeks. She didnt stamp my passport though and told me that if I am going to travel I can always go back and have it stamped. So we went out happy.

THEN, after a few hours, I checked the status online:

Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed

Your interview for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1690849966, was completed, and your case must be reviewed. We will mail you a notice if we make a decision or take further action.

Is that normal?

Yup that is normal. My wife had her GC a couple weeks after the interview.

Now you can relax for a couple years. Start collecting evidence for ROC; copies of utility bills, insurance, bank statements, etc for 2 YEARS. (normally no interview for ROC)

Congrats!! :dancing:

Congratulations!!! Like Hank has stated start a file if evidence now so it will be easier at filing. I wish I had as it took me days and countless hours preparing our ROC.

Thanks, Greenbaum! Yup, I will start a file for the evidence.

One question though, I forgot to ask the officer earlier, since I have never recieved my employment authorization and the early parole, can I apply for a job once I have the greencard?

Yes you can work on a GC. They will use e-verivy for employment verification and with GC there won't be problem.
