Is he self-employed? What does he currently make annually?

If he still makes the exact amount that he did last year, then he needs assets to make up the difference or a joint sponsor > https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

It is not about his past income. It is about current annual income. What does he make now annually? And again, is he an employee with an employer or is he self-employed? You need to give more info in order to get the correct answers for your situation.

I see. Does he get pay stubs? Do they show his yearly income to date(YTD)? Is there a way to figure out his current projected annual income based on what he gets paid per miles and how many miles he drives per week or month? If he will get paid enough to meet the income requirement in a year's time span, then he can list that amount and use letter from employer/contract that shows position and salary plus recent pay stubs.

Otherwise, he will need assets worth 3 times the amount he is short in income, or a joint sponsor.
