Hi everyone I hope I am posting in the right place.

My USC wife is not working but I am, last year she applied for Medicaid for herself and kids and she used my paystubs to show that she is qualified, after that I started making more money so she is not qualified anymore but she didn't tell them that. I never knew that she was doing that, although I added her to my health insurance plan from y job.

The thing I received a letter in the mail with my name on it, not hers'. The letter is saying that me "My name" I am not qualified anymore for Medicaid because what I told them I am making was not correct and I make more than that, so I have 30 days to provide them of how much money I am making as of now or else I will lose my benefits".

I called the medicaid and asked them if I am considered that I am receiving benefits from the government, she asked for my social number and I gave it to her, she said I don't see your name as a receiver but I see your paystubs, its just your wife and 2 kids. I asked her if I am considered receiving benefits she said that she doesn't really know because the application in my wife's name, but she is my family legally.

Does anyone know if I am considered as a receiver to governmental benefits? Does that affect the Naturalization?

Was there any fraud with what she did using my paystubs? If yes should I do something?

Thank you.

Its good to be proactive with your life but you are looking for trouble where there is none.

When someone applies for and is issued Medicaid they know it. She couldnt have gotten it for you behind your back. And yes for her to get it she would have to show you as a family member and show your income even though you werent getting benefits.

I understand the letter is worded funny but thats because its a standard fill in the name blank letter. So NO to getting benefits and NO to impact on n400. NO fraud nothing to do.

Thank you. I know she didnt get for me behind my back, I know that she got it for herself. I was worried if I will be responsible to pay back the government for what Medicaid covered. Her medical bills covered by Medicaid are around $15,000. Most of it is nothing real she was just scared that she might be sick.

When you called them on the phone they told you only your wife and her kids received it. Stop worrying, you are fine.

She was required to show them your paystubs, as THEIR ability to receive Medicaid was based on household income.

I don't know if our state sends them to the adult with the alphabetically first name or just the man first, but our son's Medicaid stuff always goes to my husband, the non-citizen. They clearly send us eligibility letters all the time that state he isn't eligible because of his immigration status, so I don't worry about it. I too wondered why they did that, but I think it is just the way letters are auto-generated.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

You are not eligible for government benefits. In order to get Medicaid you have to be here for 5 years or 40 quarters. which you are not. You will be considered a public charge if you go on any kind of gov benefits. If social services puts you in any kind of assistance and they make the mistake YOU will be left to pay for it not them. Just letting you know. Good luck.

No no. They can't put you on something without requesting it. I'm just letting you know if they make a mistake they will never owe up to it and you will be left to pay for it. They should know by your immigration status that you can't get anything BUT that does not mean mistakes don't happen. Your wife can get anything she and the kids are eligible for but you will be disqualified. Certain things though you are not disqualified for. Things like food stamps, Medicaid, and cash assistance you wouldn't be able to get and if your wife gets it it will not cause any problems for you and your naturalization.

Thanks for the clarification.
