Hello VJ.... Thanks for this platform, I and my US fiancé have been filing for my on going petit too since January, although we have known each other long before now, so on the 14th of May I was called to come and take my package and interview date for 21st July 2016, I am well prepared and hoping for the best, I hear the CO can be mean at times but that's ok with my I know they are only doing their jobs and are well trained for it. My only concern is I'm 34 and my fiancé(Maria) is 57, I hope I don't get denied for that reason? We have plans already for our wedding and she has rented a new apartment too, printed out wedding cards and hoping I get approved and be home to my fiancé ASAP, I miss her so much and sometimes have tears when I think of the good moment we had in the past. Please wish me luck and keep praying for me. God bless you all and hoping to share my good news here soon in Jesus name.

Good luck with your interview. As you’ve read, Ghana is a tough embassy. You may already know all of this, but here’s a few pieces of advice before your interview.

  • Make sure you don’t submit or take any pictures that might give off the impression you had a knocking ceremony or traditional marriage. This is a reason many are denied, my now husband’s K1 visa included.
  • Look over all the paperwork your fiancee submitted before the interview. The consulate will likely ask you questions based on those documents and photos.
  • Finally, review the consulate reviews on the Ghana portal to get an idea of what you’re facing. This consulate likes to ask a lot of random questions, so it’s good to go over things with your fiancee before.

The age difference could cause some problems, so hopefully you two submitted a lot of good evidence. Be confident. Try to keep your answers short and don’t give them more information than needed…it could lead to more questions. Good luck!

Welcome to VJ. Please enter K1 not IR/CR on your timeline, you are applying for a K1 not a spousal visa. I suggest you don't
disclose your real name here.

Hopefully the petition was front loaded with quality evidence.

Many Ghana K1's get refused and returned and the couples had to start all over again, Ghana is notorious for refusals.
You should never make any firm plans for your wedding for that reason, sure she can buy the dress etc. but don't send invitation cards

or book venues or you will lose money on the deposits, your fiance should not plan for a certain wedding date until your visa is in hand.

Your age difference is a concern for Ghana as well because it is not customary to marry someone that much older in your culture

and they won't outright deny you for it but just say ' not enough bona fide relationship evidence' or give any lame excuse

when they get hung up on the age gap.

Not what you want to hear but unfortunately your embassy is extremely strict.
I wish you all the best.
