About me: F-1student who met a wonderful Southern man and want to spent the rest of our lives together. I'm little bit overwhelmed by all the forms and restrictions and requirements....probably like most of the forum members here. I will ask my question in the appropiate forum. But what brought me here was this question:

I have a dual citizenship and have been married before.I have proof of divorce from the country I lived since I was a toddler and the country I was married and divorced. But am I required to show proof of my marital status from both countries?

All you have to prove is you are free to marry so you divorce decree if its a foreign language have translated by a certified translator and send the original of the translation.

Send what ever you have to show you are divorced.

Ok, I believe I read somewhere ( can't recall where) that if you have dual citizenship you need to provide evidence of marital status. Reason why i'm asking is: the country I grew up is easy to obtain the information. I can do this online. The other country is a different story, I need to travel overthere in person to get all the information which will take a decent amount of time. And I'm a student and can't leave when ever I want.

I would find out because you werent in marrying age when you lived there....

Yes, thats right. But I don't know what is required when people have dual citizenship. Hope someone here can tell me if they have any experience with a similar situation.

I am unsure if you can even change your name from a phone (I looked and couldn't find it), however if you have access to a PC changing your name is very easy.

In the top right corner where it shows your name, click there, then click "My Profile".

Then click Edit My Profile(Blue button under your picture)

On the left side will be a section called "Display Name"

Click there, type your new name, and type your password, then click save changes.

In regards to the marital status from both countries. It depends, did you register your marriage with both countries. If you did, then you will need documents from both. Otherwise you should only need to show proof of marriage from the country where the marriage was registered. Unless the country of residence, and the country where it was registered are different. If they are the same, I think you are ok. Again this is speculation, as the instructions aren't really written towards people with dual citizenship.
