no one will sponsor you to be a teacher unless you are a reseracher type professor and then you could probably get an H!b.

i hightly HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt you would get an H1B to be a teacher here with not a high level of education.

if you are unable to marry a USC, your options are limited and i would prepare to either - do another F`1 study program of higher eduation or go back home.

so you are married, is your wife here with you??

Teachers also have access to H1B visas. There are certain School Districts who are exempt from the annual numerical H-1B cap/quota. This can an impact on qualification.

Depending upon qualification and visa being granted....they can apply for permanent residency.

this is true, but hes looking for a job in a preschool and doesnt seem to have a masters type educaiton.. i know you would have a stronger chance if you were working as a researcher. i dont think he would have a chance at getting an h1b to teach at an elementary school - too many teachers out there.

So anyone with bachelor's degree in any trade can go for H1B in teaching? Don't they need a degree in Education?

1. You are not moderator. It reminded me of early this morning.....I was in the queue to board the flight and person in front of me had no status and tried to board....was sent back.

2. Squareleg is defense command post and field exercise.

Some folks prefer other routes than getting married to USC.

1. Haha I am definitely not a mod. My point was, you're quick to take offense, I've noted in the past here on vj.

2. squareleg.. as well as sillypoint.. is also a position on a cricket field.

H1b visas are short-term visas to address a temporary lack of skilled, qualified US workers in certain fields. A teacher.. maybe!

So anyone with bachelor's degree in any trade can go for H1B in teaching? Don't they need a degree in Education?

OP noted that they are working on the credentials. If qualified within the OPT time-frame, they can apply for H1B.

Here is from USCIS -

Can I qualify without a bachelor’s degree?
If your position qualifies as do not have at least a bachelor’s degree in a field related to your position, then you may qualify by:
Holding an unrestricted state license, registration or certification which authorizes you to fully practice the specialty occupation and be immediately engaged in that specialty in the state of intended employment; or
Having education, specialized training, and/or progressively responsible experience that is equivalent to the completion of a U.S. bachelor’s or higher degree in the specialty occupation, and having recognition of expertise in the specialty. through progressively responsible positions directly related to the specialty. In general, 3 years of work experience or training in the field is considered as equivalent to 1 year of college.

That's correct but if the job position doesn't require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent at all, does that job qualify for H1B? Probably not. If OP gets the teaching certification for Pre-school or Primary-school (say up to grade 5), will she/he be qualified for H1b? Highly unlikely.

If OP goes for teaching certification for high school teaching which probably requires bachelors degree or equivalent experience or certification, may be there is a chance that the school can petition for h1b for her. However to get that certification, i believe OP needs to take some prerequisite courses or training.

OP has to look into what sort of teaching certification to acquire? Not all certifications can be qualified for H1b.

From USCIS:

Requirement 2 - Your job must qualify as a specialty occupation by meeting one of the following criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher degree or its equivalent is normally the minimum requirement for the particular position;
  • The degree requirement is common for this position in the industry, or the job is so complex or unique that it can only be performed by someone with at least a bachelor's degree in a field related to the position;
  • The employer normally requires a degree or its equivalent for the position; or
  • The nature of the specific duties is so specialized and complex that the knowledge required to perform the duties is usually associated with the attainment of a bachelor's or higher degree.

I also assumed a Cricket term, like deep mid wicket.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
