Is it that bad to serve the nation in combatant service?

No, not really, but I'm glad I don't have to do it now because if it were a requirement while I was naturalizing, then I would have a freaking problem.

We have for the most part an all volunteer army. The way I see it is if the draft conscript was ever initiated, then it's probably wouldn't matter since it would be WW3 and everyone would be impacted.

If you are a pacifist with deeply held moral beliefs against using force then yes, anything involving combat/violence is "bad".

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. Some object to war, and that's their right to hold their belief. It's what makes the world an awesome and diverse place.

I would just hope they are consistent and don't use those who protect us (including police) to protect them, when they would not return the favor because beliefs.

I agree with you, Emily. It is not consistent that they use various forces uniformed and un-uniformed to protect themselves....I find a logical fallacy in the whole modified oath....

Absolutely, I am a moderator myself on a forum back in Ireland. We respect different opinions (obviously) and realise most topics can go slightly 'off topic'. Offensive comments are not tolerated, not to mention personal attacks. There were none of such as this person (moderator) refers to. The topic asks an important question, I'd like to think we are all adults here.quote name="squareleg" post="8189630" timestamp="1466217623"]

I agree. I didn't read any personal attacks or off topic comments. It was a civil conversation with insightful posts.

It appears over-reach of the authority to remove posts.

****** In these forums, we give advice on the Ops questions. If you wish to discuss the Oath in general, or loyalties of new citizens, you can create your own topic in the CHEST forum. Do NOT hijack this or other members' threads to discuss your own philosophies. This is a last warning before further admin action will be taken. ************
