SSN on K1

Hello everyone,

I arrived in Phoenix on May 12th and waited till may 23rd to go get my SSN so after waiting two hours we got all the information put in the computer, off we went home and got told to expect the card in the mail in 2 weeks time....

Well it's now nearly 4 weeks since and the wedding and honeymoon have been and gone, I rang the social security office and turns out the card was mailed on May 23rd but it never made it to my apartment!!

So now having to go back to the social security office to get it all re done, I triple checked the address when we were there but the guy on the phone couldn't tell me what had happened or where it has disappeared too! He did say the lady who filled out the information could of put the wrong address in but I checked with her before we left the office to make sure it was all correct.

Fingers crossed 2nd time round works okay!

Is it possible it could still turn up? Has anyone ever had 2 SSN cards?

I spoke to someone from the social security office and they said I'm in the system just need to go down and state that the card is lost, Im now married but keeping my surname so no need for a name change, can this still be done or would I have to wait for my EAD?

I think it is just misdirected mail and they are trying to be secure and not just keep sending. You have already been issued your SSN. You just need to get the card resent and apparently have to show up in person...maybe show some ID even.

I rang my local office on Friday and they have resent the card out, today I went to the office with my wife as she was changing her surname to mine.

I spoke to someone there and they gave me a pen and paper to write down my SSN which they had on a piece of paper, they told me I will get my card soon but to go register at the post office so I get mail to that address even though my name is in the mail box.

Has anyone else had to register at the post office? How do you go about it?
