Where to stay in Guangzhou

So I recently made this post in an existing thread over in the CFL forums, and thought maybe we should have something similar started here, as not everyone from VJ is on CFL and vise versa.

------------------------------------------------------------------

After recently finishing our interview (04-05-2016), I thought I would provide a suggestion for a Hotel in the area.

When we stayed in Guangzhou, we stayed at the Bolin International Apartments.

地址:广州天河区珠江新城花城大道16号铂林国际公寓(或者是:名门大廈建设银行)

Bolin International Apartment

Address: 16 Huacheng Ave, Tianhe, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China

The accomodations were nice, clean, and comfortable. The nightly expense was approximately 150元 and the walk to the consulate only took 10 minutes at best.

Right outside of the Hotel front door are 2 restaurants that serve delicious food (I cannot remember their names to save my life, and to satisfy your western taste buds, there is an Irish Pub located around the corner (McCawley's Irish Bar)

The Route in Red is the path I took to go to the Consulate as it allowed me to get a cup of coffee as I waited outside for her.

Great idea, thanks for sharing!

Here's our experience: My fiance stayed in Guangzhou for 5 days (medical through interview). We wanted him to stay somewhere very clean, comfortable, and as close as possible to the embassy, but we also didn't have much of a budget. We booked a room on AirBNB. As of May 2016, there were some great rooms as low as 15 or 20 USD a night that are within a couple subway stops of the embassy. I messaged several hosts and read all of their reviews before choosing one--there were a lot of great options, and some even told me that they had had other people interviewing for visas stay with them before. Since I was unable to go to China to be with my fiance during that time, and he was not familiar with Guangzhou, I was glad that he had a local host there.

Anyways, I was a little nervous about booking an AirBNB for such an important occasion, but it turned out great! Was cleaner and more comfortable than the average Chinese hotel of similar cost.

Spoiler

12/18/2015- NOA 1

1/29/2016- NOA 2

2/18/2016- Letter from NVC saying they're forwarding to Guangzhou

3/4/2016- Received P3, returned it about a week later

3/22/2016- P4 email

5/12/16- Interview. Approved!

5/16/16- After a few days saying administrative processing, CEAC now says issued!

Additional snafu: my fiancé came over on his visa, but just a month later (and the day before we were going to get married) he had an emergency that necessitated him returning to China.  I contacted the Guangzhou consulate via their email system, provided the requested documents/proof, and he was granted a second interview for "reissuance."  He had to re-do the medical, redo the interview (bringing yet another copy of all of the things he had to bring the first time) and we were approved again!  He received what looked like a new visa in his passport, but the original 90 day countdown for marriage was still ticking.  He came back to the US and we got married right away!

8/22/16- Married!

AOS

9/30/16- Filed for AOS, EA, AP

10/6/16- NOA 1 for AOS, EA, and AP (USCIS case status website says case was received on October 4th)

11/9/16- Bio appointment

12/13/16- EA and AP approved!

no news... case status on website still says "fingerprint fee received..."

4/11/17- submitted online service request for case out of normal processing time (over 6 months)

5/2/17- USCIS website updated to "My card is being produced!"

5/10/17- Green Card received

ROC

3/2/19- Filed ROC

3/8/19- NOA/18mo extension received

5/7/19- Bio appointment

9/2/20- Interview scheduled for next month!

Travelocity returns a total of 50 hotels in the vicinity of the Flowers City Square - you can use this information with other travel agents or web sites such as ctrip if you wish to shop around for more hotels or better prices.

From Travelocity:

The marker in this map for Flower City Square is actually off by a block, and points to the consulate itself, rather than the Square.

To expand the search a little bit, Travelocity returns 144 hotels in the vicinity of Taikoo Hui

This map shows several coffee shops near the consulate, including the Delinong America Qiaokeli & Coffee Chain Store, which just barely made it onto the map to the left (west) of the Starbucks on the west side of the consulate. The Xingchen Building, which houses the Yang's Apts., and the SPR Coffee, also houses the Gai'er'si Coffee Shop. There is a Subway Sandwiches (now closed) near the Delinong America Qiaokeli & Coffee Chain Store.

The blue box on this map is the security plaza, while the cyan is the "Great Hall" consulate building, which you should see right in front of you when you exit the subway at B1.

As near as I can tell, the marker for SPR Coffee is in the Xingchen Building, which also houses the Yang's Apartments.

Hi Chris,

I have a couple questions for you. With any luck My Fiance will be traveling to Guangzhou for her interview in the next couple months (we got NOA2 on June 9). I am trying to find a nice place for her to stay as I will not be able to accompany her, I think her sister is going to go with her though. Can you provide the phone number of the apartment you stayed in? Also, did you have the medical exam done at the clinic across from the embassy and how much time should I allow for the exam to be sure the results get to the embassy in time. She has to travel 6 hours by the fast train to Guangzhou so I want her to get it all in one trip.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I don't know which place she has her medical, but it was in Guangzhou. They told her it would take about 3 days to get the medical documents.

As for the hotel she used an app to book the room. But another person started there and reported about it as well. They listed the number as.

139-0306-2568

Have her give that number a try.

For a cheaper option (~200-250 RMB for a large bed), we stayed at the Hanting right outside of the Yangji subway stop on Line 5. It's just two stops away from the embassy and is much more affordable than hotels in the immediate area of the embassy. As a nice bonus, they offer free printing and have a washer and dryer you can use for free (they even provide the washing powder for free!).

Here's the info:

汉庭酒店(杨箕地铁站店)
