Hello,

I had my conditional green card based on a good faith marriage to a US citizen on Sep. 2013, and I filed to remove conditions on my green card on Jul. 2015, I received my permanent green card on May 2016. The question comes as follows: the relationship between my spouse and I is falling apart recently and we are in the process of getting a divorce. Will I lose my green card if we get divorced? and does it affect the process of applying for the citizenship later? and when can I apply for citizenship? do I have to wait for 5 years?

Thank you

Don't worry...you can still file for citizenship, yes, but like the above poster says, since you won't be married to the original US citizen who sponsored you in the first place, you have to wait until you've been here for 5 years.

Good luck
