moving while waiting for interview invitation

Having filled out the DS-260, I'm now waiting for an invitation for the interview. I'm living in Scandinavia and the Embassy in Stockholm is responsible for me.

As I understand the interview process starts in October. Since my case number is around 10k, I'm expecting an interview between November and December.

I'm getting a job opportunity, which isn't finalized yet. It means that I might be moving to the UK some time between August and September.

What options do I have to handle this so that I can still get the interview?

Do I tell the Stockholm embassy that they should send the invitation to the UK?

Would the responsibility for the interview switch automatically from Stockholm to London?

Would this delay the whole process significantly?

Also, if I get the visa to enter the US, I understand that I need to enter within 6 months of the medical. Is it correct that if I enter the country within those 6 months, I have another 12 months to go back home, get everything in order and then move permanently or do I have to move sooner?

With your timing it will almost certainly cause a delay, if you are insistent on moving to the UK just before your likely interview...

Usually you would update your DS260 with your new address so that kcc knows where to schedule the interview. They however do the scheduling around 2 months beforehand so ... Exactly when you might be moving and you may not have the new address in time. If in time, they'll schedule you in London. If not, you will then have to, in conjunction with kcc, Stockholm and London, arrange a new date. People doing this kind of thing in the past have reported further delays of usually 2-4 months.

You are basically correct in your understanding but it begs the question of why not just stay in Stockholm till interview then move to the US? Unless you're going to be paid a fortune in London (and able to save most of it for the move) it makes more sense to get into the US jobs market ASAP. Just 2c worth.

The issue is I'm unemployed and might be so for a while longer since it's not easy to find a job where I am now. I have a good chance to get the visa interview in October/November, which means I could at the earliest move in January/February in order to get everything in place. That's more than half a year of unemployment. The work experience might be an asset as well as the additional money I could save.

Soon I'll know if I get the job. If I get it, I'll just change the address on the DS260 immediately to a friend's address. By the time I go to the interview I'll have my own address and change it there. Does that make sense?

Yeah you can do that. You'll need to email kcc to "unlock" your DS260 when you want to change the address. (It may take a few days for them to respond so don't worry if you don't hear back immediately from them.)
