*Bangs Head on wall* Got the I-864a from my in laws... they filled it out wrong. My father in law signed as the household member instead of my mother in law, and she signed as the sponsor :(
They have to do it all over again now... sigh

I drove all the way to the airport to pick these up as FedEx (again) missed their "guaranteed" delivery time hoping I could hand deliver. Nope... even if they were filled out correctly, I was told a courier MUST deliver these, not me.
my status was again updated today, it still shows "Ready".

Sigh...

I feel a little better guys... I read the Embassy reviews (again) on our Embassy and apparently the consul often says "everything looks good, we will contact you" instead of approval and then approves them. Seems to be her "line" instead of "u are approved".
Hopefully we won't be in AP for long. The boys start school in August, it would be great if a little was given to us to adjust to a new culture before starting school.
Thanks again for your patience with me!!! :)

Good morning peeps!!

What Hell is AP??? Like someone said sometimes I just want to quit!!
We delivered all the documents they asked for in 221(g) (new originally signed I-864as) but the general feeling I got from the Embassy is they do not want to issue the Visas. I've had this feeling from the very beginning.
Unfortunately they can keep you in AP forever and a day if they want which is SO unfair when you have met all their criteria and there are no red flags etc.
We have vested so much (both us and my in laws) into this, that if it doesn't come through, I will lose my family. My husband cannot stay here, he needs urgent medical care in the US and I cannot cope alone with 3 small children. He will probably (for her own good) take our baby daughter with him...and I will be left with our two boys here, alone, broke and broken. I can't stand the thought of living without him. He is my one and it has been the greatest joy to have found him and known him and waking up next to him.
I am just SO low right now. I kept wanting to write here for the last few days but I didn't want to whine. However I do need a little pat on the back I think. Nobody likes a whiner, especially those who had a lot harder times than us but I am desperate and the "what if's" are looming over me, I can't sleep at night anymore.
*sigh*

My heart goes out to the couples who are not together, through this hell called immigration. It needs nerves of steels and deep pockets!! (we have spent more than $6000 for 3 people doing this!!!)
I am trying to cling to a story, a word of encouragement, ANYTHING at this point. I am usually a very upbeat person but I also worry because my husband is the opposite of me.. he is like "all will be well" but you know what? If the visa is not granted all will NOT be well. Not in this country. Maybe if he had a job and insurance, yes, but is special needs. He has no job and no insurance :( And if the visa is granted in months from now, we have the same problem. We cannot survive months here. Schools are out, I am out of work and I cannot commit to a school for September because we don't know if we will be here. We have spent all our money on the visas!! You cannot get into a school AFTER the school year starts. What will we do for rent and food? :(
If it gets too bad to the point we are hungry, I will insist hubby and baby who are USCs, go without us. I cannot let them suffer here :(
I do not want to loose my family but for their own better future I feel like I will or I should.

Sorry to vent, but you are the ONLY ones who can understand this. Again, THANK You for listening (or reading!!) to me.
Crossing fingers and toes this is all over soon with a positive result!!!

Everyone's visas status go trough the Ap process. It can take hours, days, weeks, or longer. It's impossible to predict.

I know you've been worried and having a hard time through this process but at this point you've done everything you could and handed everything asked.

There shouldn't be a problem, it probably is the usual step they need to go through.

Hang in there. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I know it's very hard to wait to hear from the various immigration authorities, but you do have quite a negative outlook on the process and I think it's hurting you.

I completely understand your need to be in the US quickly, and certainly before the start of the next school year. It seems that you were expecting the DCF to move faster so compared to your expectations, this seems slow, but with a bit of perspective you can see that you were so lucky to have the option of DCF - most people are waiting close to a year for their CR/IR-1s these days.

I don't think the embassy has any bias towards NOT granting you a visa. You seem to be taking some of these bureaucratic instructions way too personally. The people working at the embassy have no reason to want to deny your application - and what you see as them being overly nitpicky or asking for more evidence than required or throwing barriers in your way is just them following their bureaucratic process and rules. If they didn't want to grant you a visa, would they have moved up your interview date? Communicated with you frequently over the paperwork required? They're not trying to trap you, just checking items off a list and making sure everything is just so. It seems to me that your financial situation caused some concern, which is why they wanted the extra evidence of the i-864A. You've complied and provided the right documents - shouldn't be a problem.

I have no experience of "AP" myself but have read horror stories on here from those poor couples in certain parts of the world who wait months and years on a visa. It's only been 2-3 days since they got your final and updated documents! You are not in the dreaded, never-ending, black hole of AP. I'm sure they will get to your paperwork very soon.

It's super stressful to not have control over one's own immigration journey and be dependent on the decisions of some government entity. It's important to stay positive and have faith that - having followed all instructions and provided all necessary documents - all will be well. Don't catastrophize now! You're very close to the finish line and there's no need to even think about your husband moving alone. Don't go to a dark place where you think your family needs to separate. Nothing about your process or interview indicates any reason for you to be denied or any suggestion from the embassy that you will be.

All will be well. You're almost there.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to write this!

First of all I feel really guilty for writing and whining in the first place, when hundreds of couples just on VJ, are apart and waiting for the slow gears of "normal" immigration to turn, when I am living with my husband and our baby.

It is very hard not to fret even over a single wasted day when I see him getting worse and worse every week. When the Greek government is denying him treatment again and again on the grounds he is a foreigner and unemployed.

We live in a TERRIBLE country with NO infrastructure the last few years.

Not only that but because we need to leave immediately, I was convinced by my family, to start selling our things, my car etc, so when the visas came, we would be out the door the next day, sort of.

I am under extreme pressure to move on with this process of selling and clearing the apartment WITH NO VISA IN HAND!!!! I am freaking out!!!

If as you say, we will probably get the visa, then no problem, they were right to want me to start clearing out and selling (because these things don't happen overnight). If the visa will be delayed indefinitely, I am in a world of trouble, selling the things and the car.

Yes, yes I KNOW, never do anything unless your visa is in YOUR hands, but you cannot imagine the pressure I am under from hubby and my in laws. They kept saying "open and shut case" "you will get approval at interview" etc (their lawyer told them that). They went ahead and bought us a house, furnished it, they are getting us a car... what if we are stuck in Greece for the next 6 months?!?!

How will I get to work in September without a car?

In what condition will my husband be in 6 months from now, when now he has even trouble getting out of bed some days?

My life and my sons' lives are on pause right now. Not to mention I have handed my resignation that I won't be coming back in September and un-enrolled the boys from school. What if we are still here in September?

:wow: I am sorry but even USCIS says dont make any plans. You selling the car and house items because others said was a bit presumptious....in the this life the ONLY guarantee is death.

Its now time for you and your husband to let go he needs treatment he should come to the states you will need to be apart. Its better that than for him to die due to self inflicted neglegence in his care.

Immigration is NOT EASY and its not "open and shut". Its now time to fix the fixable let go of the things you cannot control.

AP can last as long as the US government sees fit.

And a words of advice half full never half empty :reading:

Anita I am 110% with YOU on this. I am not the one pushing forward like this!!!
It is my husband and in laws! :(
That is why I am so terrified right now. They are all on me to sell, sell, sell, and go go go, all thinking by the time this is all over, we will get the approval and the next day we will be up and running to catch a flight.
AND I AM TERRIFIED and nobody is listening to me :(
They keep telling me I am a worrier and stuff like that and they are tired of me whining about it. But I am ONLY whining about the fact we have NO APPROVAL and they are forcing me to act like we DO have an approval!!! :(
I don't want to sell my car!!!! YET!!
