Hello everyone!

My USC wife and I are getting some joint stuff together and we were wondering how to get joint cell phone bill together. We currently use Tracfone and pay around $115 for both phones every month. The problem is that it is prepaid and there is no "joint" cell phone bill. Can someone recommend a plan/company where they get a joint bill in an affordable price range?

Also, I have read that Medical power of attorneys are free most of the times. Are there any other free/cheap joint documents that we can get together?

Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.

I use AT&T. I'm the account holder and my spouse is a member. It shows both of our names including the spend and detail usage on the monthly statement.

Consumer Cellular. Cost varies based upon how much data, and how many minutes, you use. I've done a lot of looking and it is by far the least expensive plan. I pay $50 per month for three lines. We watch data usage closely, but if you can do that, it's a great value.

I only purchase unlocked phones, so if you amortize the cost of the phone over the time I use it my monthly cost would be higher. That said, I use phones a long time...

I'm sorry to post multiple times. I just noticed your question about international calls. Why would you call an international number using your mobile cellular line? It's much cheaper to use something like Skype to call a phone overseas. We call mobile phones in Vietnam all the time, and using Skype it's really inexpensive.

Consumer Cellular may or may not facilitate overseas calls, but since I use Skype (but only when connected to WiFi, so I don't use data) to call Vietnam, it's never been an issue. Consumer Cellular will not work in another country (incl. Canada), but again, since I use Skype to make international calls it's never been an issue.

Plus...if you get the AARP discount you can save even more - I did. :)

That is because in alot of places like where my wife's family is from in the Philippines internet connections are almost nonexistent and thus it is more reliable to just call. Even then half the time the call drops out.

The phone my wife has is under her name and it is a TMobile prepaid phone. That way I pay the bill and she is able to call in the USA and make texts to the Philippines. If she wants to call home then she puts more money on the phone and when it runs out it runs out.

When I was wanting to share accounts with my wife I put her own my credit card, rent, home and car insurance.

Understand. My wife's parents live in a small town in Vietnam, with sketchy to non-existent internet. The internet connection is used on this side of the pond, you call a mobile number over there. You can send SMS with Skype.

Just suggesting - it's worth looking into Consumer Cellular. If it doesn't work for you (particularly if you use a lot of mobile data), then no harm.

For a fee, you can use Skype (on your end) to call phones directly, for Philippines you can either use Skype credit ($0.12/min) or get a monthly subscription (starting from $6.99 per month for 60 min/month).

For wills (and various powers of attorney), look at sites like legalzoom.com -- no married couple should be without these documents in "life," their value for immigration purposes aside.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
