Don't know of any benefit to not changing to your married name for the I-130 petition and visa process.

Not changing everything to your married name WILL complicate things. You will still have to get your NBI in your maiden and married name.

Your visa will be in your maiden name.

Later - your green card will be in your maiden name, not your married name.

I'm the petitioner - female. I was still in the Philippines when we filled out our I-130 and gave the packet to my parents to send who were to return to the states before me. So I don't have to deal with NBIs or a visa, just my husband :D

When he arrives I'll legally change my last name. On facebook my last name is his! Doesn't that count?? B-)

Ah! Difference for sure!

Will you take the traditional name format?

Thanks for the update! That's why I haven't changed my last name to my husband's yet because I don't want to complicate things.

Look at it this way, better to get AP now than an AP on your original date. I hope everything gets easier, a little but more struggle until VISA ON HAND! :dancing:

My wife did not change her name yet in any documents, and that's not what's causing the complication/problem....

You can do the complete visa process with the maiden name, won't cause issues... the annoying comes later, after the visa . ;)

For the visa application you need everything listed in the embassy instructions letter, make the embassy happy and the visa appears:

Hi,

I'm not sure what to do and was hoping to get some help.

My wife's interview is scheduled for the second week in July. I called to see if we could get an earlier appointment and was told the there was one available. When I said I would take it she told me that since the NVC forwards our case file to the Embassy and was not there yet that my wife may be turned out by the Embassy at there discretion when showing up for the new date.

I told her that I tracked our case file through DHL and received notice that the Embassy received and signed for our case file. Afterwards which she still informed me that she could reschedule us but my wife could still be turned out by the Embassy at their discretion.

So should I reschedule and take a gamble, wait a few days and call again for a different agent or just keep our July date??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you soooo much for this forum!!! I Rescheduled my hubby's interview for earlier!
