I received an email from NVC today (PAOSF)

After the instructions on the next step it stated on the bottom that..

After you complete the steps above, we will review the forms and documents you submit to us. If something is missing or incorrect, we will tell you how to fix it. Otherwise, we will schedule your relative's case for a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in MANILA, PHILIPPINES.

My husband was petitioned by his parents to Canada from Philippines, he migrated to canada when he was 18 and became a Canadian citizen when he was 23. Now my question is does he really need to travel to the philippines for his interview? Has there been a mistake? Can we choose an embassy that is either in canada or us instead? A plane ticket to the philippines can cause us around $800-1000 not including other expenses :(

It can take a few months 2 to 3 depends how fast Manila sends his case file to Montreal.

read this on the NVC PASOF letter just now, i have not submitted form DS-260 since I have only received this letter today so my application have not been forwarded to US embassy in the philippines.

If you have not submitted Form DS-260 "Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application"at http://ceac.state.gov, please do so now. We cannot forward your petition to a U.S. Embassy overseas until you submit Form DS-260.

Well that's good news. Call NVC now. They are open until midnight. They will probably have your husband email his proof of Canadian residency but this can be fixed fast.

When did you send in your IV and AOS documents?

It will cause delays but less delays if you change the case number before submitting anything. Don't submit the Ds-261, the Ds-260, the AOS or IV documents.

Just got off the phone with an NVC agent and I was told to email asknvc@state.gov to request a change of case number and attach a copy of my husband's canadian passport. I asked how long it will take for them to update it and was told that it can take some time :clock::cry: but agent said I can continue with the paperwork and send it documents while they are working on updating it (still not sure if I should)

I will start gathering all the documents that is on the checklist AOS, financial documents, supporting documents, but then I don't know if I should wait till his NVC case number has been updated until I choose agent, pay fees, and submit visa application form and then submit all of it to nvc.
