Hi guys,

Quick question... I am hopeful the NVC will schedule my IR1 visa interview soon at the Sydney consulate, but I'm concerned I'll be away on business for the interview date (got some travel for work for 7+ weeks). Has anyone had experience having to reschedule their scheduled appointment? Was it a straight forward process?

Thanks

I originally had a May 31st date for my interview but needed to push it back due to a delay in finalising a child custody case. I called in May and requested a late July date instead. They told me they only book appointments 6-8 weeks in advance, they cancelled my May appointment and told me to contact them closer to the time I wanted. I only just contacted them by email last week and was told that July is all booked out and the earliest I could get was August 30th. All straight forward, just a few emails.

09 Nov 2015 - I-129F Sent

19 Nov 2015 - NOA1 Received

22 Dec 2015 - NOA2 Received

21 Jan 2016 - Petition received by US Consulate Sydney

18 Apr 2016 - Interview instructions received - given interview date of 31st May 2016 (we cancelled this date)

14 Jun 2016 - Requested new interview date

16 Jun 2016 - Email received - new date given - 30th August 2016

26 Aug 2016 - Visa medical Sydney

30 Aug 2016 - Consulate interview day - (approved pending medical report)

03 Sep 2016 - Medical report received by Consulate

07 Sep 2016 - Email request for more information from Consulate

08 Sep 2016 - New information sent to Consulate via email

15 Sep 2016 - Case status updated still processing

Hi, I've just received a letter informing that my petition has been forwarded on to the NVC and I'm just a little concerned as to when they will issue me with the interview date in Sydney I'm hoping that it wont be until Nov or Dec. I know the K-1 visa only has a validity of 6 months after it is approved and unfortunately I am waiting on an elbow surgery and have to be around for my mother until June 2017. Anyway, what I am asking is did you have to give a valid reason as to why you are changing the interview? I'm worried if i have to change to a few months later that it will be too hard to get another one or it will affect the visa.

I literally wrote a two line email to the Sydney consulate stating I needed my interview date rescheduled, and they wrote back two days later confirming it had been done for the exact date I requested. Was very simple. I don't think you should be worried.

Cheers
