Dear VJ users,

My fiancé and I shipped our i-129F package from Bali, Indonesia. We both live outside the US and have only listed our current address as our mailing address.

We sent our documents on 12 May 2016.

It arrived in the Texas Lockbox on 16 May 2016.

We received an email notifying the receipt of our documents in 20 May 2016. The email includes the WAC Receipt Number. It also stated, "Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797)".

I created an account in USCIS website around 26 May 2016. There's a page in My Case section that said, "On May 16, 2016, we received your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E), Receipt Number WACxxxxxxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by June 15, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

QUESTION:

1. Is Form I-797 would be considered my NoA1?

2. It's now June 14 2016. We have yet to receive the Form I-797. Should I be worry??

2. What 'instruction in the notice' that I need to follow??

3. Should I call the Customer Service?

Any suggestion / advice would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU

J.

Technically it is form I-797C = NOA1. I-797 is NOA2. There's no instructions on NOA1, other than to wait. You also don't need it later, but you'll need the NOA2 hardcopy for AOS - so I suggest you contact USCIS to change your mailing address to a US one.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Many people that apply from outside the US still use a US address, such as a relative that can get the notifications for them.

~ Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Case Filing and Progress Reports -topic is filing/case status ~

Hello -

Thank you for the advise. I am planning to put my fiancé's sister address to make sure that we will receive the NOA2. Can I do this by simply making a phone call the Customer Service number 1-800-375-5283 or do I have to submit another form via mail?

Thank you.

The answer is in your original post :-p

"If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address"

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

UPDATE:

I called the Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 and followed the automated instruction. I was not able to speak with an agent, it keep saying "if you would like to speak to a CS agent that might able to help you with you question please call back this number on Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm."

I am confused... Where is this location of the number I just called?? I called the number at 9:06 AM Thursday, June 16, 2016 (CDT) Time in Lewisville, TX, USA.

QUESTION:

1. Is it possible to actually speak with an agent?? If so which state is the office located in so I can coordinate my phone call timing.

2. Should I calling the number again in one hour hoping to speak with an agent? OR should I just change my address online via www.uscis.gov/addresschange??

3. Should I decided to follow that web link, am I doing the right thing by ONLY changing my 'MAILING ADDRESS' into Petitioner's sister's address in the US and just leave the 'OLD' and 'NEW' address blank?

NOTE: Both Petitioner and I currently living outside the U.S. and the 'OLD' and 'NEW' address option in USCIS website does not provide 'Country' option.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Please advise,

J

THANK YOU.
