i can tell the difference between an AR-15 and a M-16. do you have any idea what it takes to obtain a FFA? genius

You think there is an understanding what a FFA is ? .

What do you use it for? You seem a guy in the know.

May manyeth time. Can you not survive without weapons designed for mass slaughter? Are you ex military ?

The majority of my rounds (over 6k) are for my AK-47 that I keep stored for future use if SHTF, or when I move to another state and can actually fire them. I can not use them at a range in California because they are steel casings and thus considered "Not Range Safe". The other rounds are over 1k for my Glock 22 hangun that I have, about 1k for my new .22 rifle that I just got last month, and about 500 for my hunting shotgun that I have. I know I have over 8k of rounds right now but there is no hard count on that because I am continually buying rounds 100 here or 500 there whenever I go to the sport store. I still have some in my office here because I haven't brought home yet because I don't want to hear it from my wife. I am NOT a gun nut it is just cheap here in California to buy some rounds here and some rounds there. Because as a previous poster has said a good day at a range BY YOURSELF can cost about $300 in ammunition, so it's easier to space the purchases out than all at once.

I live in Los Angeles County and it is next to impossible for an Ordinary citizen to obtain a CCW license. So I usually walk/drive around with a knife on me at all times, and a hatchet in my work truck. The hatchet is used for two primary purposes. I work for an unnamed Earthquake Center in the LA area repairing earthquake sensors in Central and SoCal. So I have to use the hatchet for security purposes against snakes, bears, whatever else. I also use it to clear brush on mountain sides so that I can get to the earthquake sensors.

not as much as it takes to obtain an ar15 or ms16, i'm sure.

a hell of a lot of knowledge and a lot more money

Elaborate.

Quite frankly you lost my interest now I know you aren't ex military, but I'm all ears about the FFA.

FFA certification is gold star on a FFL. It means i can legally buy, sell, and possess exotic & foreign manufactured firearms. including full auto rifles and suppressors

Ah an honest, and informed voice in the desert. Thank you.

So why do you feel the need for an assault weapon? Is it indeed, just vanity?

Because I want a weapon that can help keep my family safe when SHTF, and one that I like to shoot as a hobby. I am a believer that it is not a matter of IF but When it does. So I want to be able to keep my family safe from people. Sorry I don't live in a world with rose colored glasses over my eyes thinking that government will be there when I need them and they will take care of people when we need them most. Sorry but the world as a whole is getting more dangerous for regular people and not less dangerous. I have a wife, 3 kids, and another one on the way. I am the one that my children look up to for protection, love, and guidance in life.

Great to hear you work for an earthquake centre .

So if you can't use some equipment on the range why do you possess it? What do you use the equipment for?

So you anticipate some kind of Armageddon situation? You have been trained well. Do you really need such high tech weapons? Are you keeping in training with the use of them? How do you feel about civilians having access to these weapons?

You really must be a Genius if you think obtaining a FFL or FFA license is somehow less expensive than a AR style weapon.

Only the rich should have access ?

Because I grew up in a family with firearms and I love being able to have them as is my right under the the 2nd Amendment. Also I plan on moving away from California in the near future, so I can use my firearms in my back yard if I want at a range I set up. Let me see I have 5 firearms and only one of them is ever loaded in my house at any given time, my hand gun is put away and ready if someone wants to try to break in to my house with my family inside.

Do I want my family to be victims in some horrific crime or do I want us to be able to live and thrive with no PTSD or other trauma????? That's a hard question to ask..... Not, I will protect my family at all costs. If you call 911 the average response time is 5-10 minutes IF you are lucky. Have you ever tried to count out 5 minutes and think what can happen in that time frame?

No, I just believe that something may happen and I want to be prepared when it does. The only high tech part of my firearms is the scope on my .308 rifle that I have, that thing cost more than the dang firearm itself. I do keep in training, didn't you read the part about spacing out buying ammo for the range.

I firmly believe that people should have access to firearms IF they learn PROPER firearms safety. That is what I have been teaching my two older kids, and my youngest when she gets alittle older as well. You can not go around cherry picking who can get what kind of firearm. Then you will have regular everyday people with just shotguns and the elites will have the true assault weapons. That's what irritates me is that these people that complain about guns all have armed security.

FFA/FFL license can be bought by people not just the rich. It is expensive but not that expensive, but you do have go through a more checks to obtain a license. Also there are more rules/laws associated with having one.

If you read what I posted it and actually knew what I was talking about. You would have read that the majority of my ammo are steel casings and that they are put up in storage right now, because they can not be used on the range. You can go out and buy "Range Safe Ammo" which I have about 500 rounds of right now at my house. They are more expensive than the steel casing ammo so that is why you have to space it out what you buy unless you got that kind of money right off. I was actually planning on taking my niece that just came in town shooting this weekend that is why I have that ammo stored up right now.
