I think my assertion was the AR 15 round was not enough for hawg hunting. It's a varmint round .

Seems extreme to use an AR 15 on varmint .

So what's the to go for for hawgs?

This doesn't sound as cool as fox hunting in England, I must say. Kill with a bit of fashion flair!

I hope none of those fellers in those prissy red suits got hurt or had loved ones hurt in the Orlando tragedy

So from what I'm reading the ar15 was developed for mass killing during war time, and is now put to excellent use killing some kind of creature called a wild hawg(?).

Are these creatures so intimidating? Wouldn't mind one for a pet. They sound awesome.

Sorry but an M-16/AR-15 Military or Civilian is not going to put a dent into a fully grown feral hog because they can weigh up and over 300 pounds. .223/5.56 FMJ is primarily designed to wound an enemy and not really kill something until you hit bone then it bounces around inside a body. While a 7.62, 30-6, and a .308 are primarily designed to kill whatever it hits. You do not want to take that chance with a Fully Grown Feral Hog because once they are shot they have a tendency to either run away from you or run TOWARD you and inflict a hell of amount of harm to someone. Usually for a hog shooting if you want to salvage the body you use a .308 or 30-6 rifle, if you do not want to salvage the body then you can use a plain old shotgun for that.

What do they do exactly that's a problem? How did people cope before the AR15? Sounds like overkill!

An AR15 is pretty much a souped up .22LR round with a larger amount of powder behind it thus it has a higher velocity. A .22 caliber rifle is primarily designed for squirrels, cats, possums, raccoons, or any small animal of that nature and yes I have shot all those kinds of animals.

ahem.........

Yeah but you haven't been in this conversation.

I got a kick out of this:

The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary case of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

I wonder if someone has to hold his hand every time he walks outside...

Hahaha that made me laugh. If that person ever shot a old sawed off 12 gauge 1 shot shotgun I had he would be weeping and not be able to hold or move his arm. It would leave marks on you. One time I was shooting it and I didn't hold it tightly enough it literally flew off my shoulder twirled and fell to the ground.... I kid you not.

The bad thing was that someone broke into our house and stole it when I left for boot camp. Damn it, I got that gun and $600 when I traded my 79 Ford Thunderbird to a guy.

Born and raised in North Carolina, now living outside Los Angeles. Actually my father got me that car in 2000 when I turned 16 as my first car, and we used to call it a boat. It took me $30 to fill it up when gas was $1.09 a gallon, I couldn't imagine it today. I loved and hated that car so much due to many different things such as: It had YUGGGGGGEEEE Leather seats in the front and back (wink wink), the original 8 track player and radio. I actually sold it to a guy my family knew and I still see him driving it when I go back to my hometown. I ended up selling it and getting a brand new 1992 Plymouth Acclaim in 2001, sorry I grew up in family where I was told that I had to pay my own way in life so I couldn't have the nicer cars like some people in my class had at the time.
