CR-1 Processing at the Consulate Santo Domingo (No Intake Processing Done by NVC)

Hello,

The embassy accepted my request to expedited processing of my wife's CR-1 visa, something done before the NVC had logged the cases in with SDO case numbers. The consulate requested that the NVC package all the paperwork and send it to Santo Domingo without any intake processing (except for SDO case numbers, which were assigned after the consulate accepted the cases). As a result, nothing has been set-up on the CEAC that would start processing. What can I expect insofar as processing at the embassy? I cringe to think that the consulate would send anything like checklists or appointment times to my wife as the postal system there is not dependable. Had this gone through normal processing, we would have been able to appoint myself as the agent, but the expedite happened too quickly for that.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Michael

Hi,

Im sure someone with this experience will help you but my suggestion to ease you ot is to contact the SDO embassy directly. Create Us travel docs account to set up VAC appointment for finger prints and photos. You might even be able to schedule your own embassy interview. Since they expedited the case make sure to have all the documents ready . Anything and everything you would have sent to the NVC + anything you would have taken to the embassy + any fees you were not able to pay to NVC. Have it all ready. Contact info for the embassy is available in ustraveldocs.com.

Also, did you call NVC for instructions on how to proceed after the expedite?

The NVC's communication with my senator simply stated that all files were being transferred to the embassy and that no further processing was being done by the NVC. All forms and fees should be available for submission to the consulate. Does beg the question how to do a DS-260 online if an invoice was never issued to me to even tee off the process in the CEAC site. Just says in transit on the tracker. The senator's office will be calling in my behalf for clarification.

you mentioned you had a case number right? do you have an invoice number as well? if you have that, you can go online and complete the visa application I believe.

No invoice number, that's the dilemma for now. These cases were processed with nothing but case numbers on them, and then sent to the embassy. I guess I will wait a few days as the case files were logged electronically as received by the embassy two days ago, and the physical files will be arriving this afternoon in Santo Domingo.
