Hi, I just want to ask and hope someone could help me or at least give me some info about tourist visa. I am Filipina and my boyfriend is American. We have met in person already when he visited me here in the Philippines. This time he asked me to visit him to meet his kids and family through tourist visa,he will pay for it. He will pay everything of my travel expenses. Here's the question: Is it possible for me to get approved if my reason is to visit my American boyfriend in the US and he will shoulder my expenses?

Please could anyone share some info about it.

Thank you

The presumption in the law is that every visitor visa applicant is an intending immigrant. Therefore, applicants for visitor visas must overcome this presumption by demonstrating that:

  • ball.gif The purpose of their trip is to enter the U.S. for business, pleasure, or medical treatment;
  • ball.gif That they plan to remain for a specific, limited period;
  • ball.gif Evidence of funds to cover expenses in the United States;
  • ball.gif Evidence of compelling social and economic ties abroad; and
  • ball.gif That they have a residence outside the U.S. as well as other binding ties that will insure their return abroad at the end of the visit.

It's not impossible to get a tourist visa to the USA with a bf in the USA. But its very rarely given. You'll need to show very strong ties to the Philippines and your odds of getting one are not that good. If you've never traveled outside the Philippines they get even worse.

Him covering for all you travel expenses will likely result in the visa denial. You should be able to clear the doubt that CO will have, "What makes you return back to your country". If you have supporting documents for that, apply for the visa. If not you can still apply and just hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
