interview for Green card

Im an international student and married to an American citizen. I have an interview for Green card coming up in 2 weeks. We actually dont live together due to some circumstances. My questions are what should I bring along with me to the interview that will help me, and what kind of questions that involved in the interview. Would the fact that we dont live together against us? Any one has experienced the same situation or have knowledge about this please help. ASAP

Is the interview is for your Adustment of Status??? Being married and not together whatever reasons you may have is a RED FLAG. When we went for interview we brought everything we submitted when we filed our Adj. Of Status such as: Pictures, joint bank statement, lease of the apartment, utility bills, marriage certificate, insurance all of these with both our names. We answered the following questions: When we got married, how did we meet, where do we live as husband and wife, when did I meet him.

Sorry, but I never heard anybody who are married that are not living together unless they are in the process of divorce or something.

It really depends on what the "some circumstances" are really, as to whether it will be an issue.

Just make sure that your husband will also be at the interview and both of you have sufficient evidence of a real marriage. Be sure to also bring a document or documents explaining the reason why both of you have to live apart. Bring proof of times that both of you have actually spent time together (trips, visits, etc).

I have heard of 1 person on the board that didn't live with their SO because they were going to school in a different state during that part of their marriage. The immigration officer at their interview saw that they had proof of the reason (enrollment papers to the school, etc.) and they were approved. But it REALLY does depend on your circumstances though. If you have proof of the reason, then you should be able to show support for your reason.

Thanks a lot everyone. Actually I'm going to school in another state, and he got a job in another state. Our marriage was kind of an arrange marriage since both our mom were close friend from their childhood. I just wait to finish my degree then I'll move in with him. We haven't celebrated our wedding yet due to his mother sickness and then her-passed-away. So we actually dont have any wedding pictures, but we do have pictures when we went out, or with the family, etc. I also still keep all the copy tickets every time I come to visit him. SO would it be ok? Would these information against me? Plus, they ask me to bring my husband with me. And yes, the interview is for my adjustment status.

Again, I really appreciate for all your help. I was very scared about my situation, but now I feel a little better.

My dear dont play with your staying here in the United State, how can you file for adjustment of status while you dont have marriage certificate proof? I must let you know that is only God that can help you out, just go on your kneels and pray hard b4 you go for the interview and i believe God can do wonders. But to file for AOS you must be married. Take care

Yes, keeping all the plane tickets that you used to visit him will help you. You should also get a letter stating that you are enrolled and have been enrolled in your school from this date to this date and that you are to be graduating on this date. Also, do you have any letters addressed to both you and your husband? THis would help too. Also a joint bank account, credit cards together, anything else that would place you both as being together will work. Pictures are good too, and your explanation of why you don't have any from your wedding probably will be asked. But, as long as you are married in good faith they you should worry too much. From what I read, they are married.

Anyway, to the OP: Use the checklist that came with your interview notice letter and make sure you have everything they ask for. You basically need proof that you are eligible to adjust your status and proof that your marriage is real. Like others have said, take proof of the reasons you aren't currently living together. Being honest is great, but also having the hard evidence to back it up is essential. The officer is going to want to see that you have assets together...do you have car insurance in both your names or any other type of insurance where your spouse is listed as the beneficiary? Do you have a joint bank account of some kind? These kinds of things.
