His self proclaimed motive (terrorist sympathies) isn't a lie of course. But there is also something deeper at work here. The choice of the victim is always important to psychopaths. They were chosen for a reason, and that reason most likely has something to do with a deep seated hatred and self-loathing regarding something going on in his head about his own identity. He loathed these people in the same way he loathed himself. A special kind of infidel you see... a way to pay for his own sin even. The cultists will tell him this behavior is evil and must be destroyed, but if he has these same tendencies he will begin to feel repulsed. The club is a soft target (if this is the only motive of choosing he could have chosen any random location) but that surely isn't the entire reason why if these reports are true.

What Yuna said also had occurred to me, he loathed a tendency within himself and chose his target accordingly. It was a sick kind of

"redemption" for himself through killing that which drew him like a magnet. He couldn't stop it internally so he stopped it externally.
