I belive one has to be a United States citizen and if I am reading his OP he's here through her and she never received a US passport :huh2:

Anyway had she been a citizen the child would be a citizen and she could just file for a passport....

But I could be wrong....

If she's a USC she needs to contact the consulate apply for CRBA that's what I did with my child she was born in DR I'm American by birth...

I'm currently pregnant in dr me and my husband are filing at the embassy to get him to America but in case it doesn't happen in time is it easy to get the baby's passport?? And everything else we will need for all of us to get there ?? I'm hoping to return before we give birth but in case we don't I just want to have all the knowledge possible on bringing a baby born overseas to America. I'm a USC by birth and this was my first time leaving the country

I love my husband ?‍?‍?

I had Kariana in Dajabon in 2010 soon as she was born i went to the embassy and applied for her. At that time i got a special paper letting her travel got her passport here. Not sure if that changed since stuff changes all the time.

Its a pain in the butt if you can return i would. I went into labor had no choice. Also, my insurance did not cover the birth. I had to pay almost 4000. They would only pay an open bill but in DR you have to pay before discharge so..... Meanwhile in US i had my insurance...

I wouldnt do it if i had the choice.

Thank you for your response

My husband does not want our child born here at all my insurance isn't valid here either I was selfemployed before leaving America I honestly wasn't sure if we'd return to America before I got here but then we had a positive preggo test I had no idea it would as much of headache the whole process to bring a relative to America omg. The price you said 4000$ that's not in Dominican pesos is it ??

Dollars 174,000 -/+ Dominican pesos....at that time the dollar was at $44 pesos per one US dollar.

On top of the fees of the pediatrician the ob they see us coming....if you go to a clinic it's more then a hospital. But I would NEVER go to hospital in DR. crazy....

That's crazy insane i think I'll return to America to give birth just hoping the dcf will be fast. I'm new to this but I guess it comes with it when your soulmate lives overseas I was hoping it wouldn't be that difficult to bring him back with me
