hello guys ,or K1 visa had been stuck in AP since Dec 15, 2016 , i'm egyptian engineer , muslim and worked before in saudi arabia ( Too much red flags LOL ) , any way , since that time we had 4 case updates ( only dates )

2 jan 2016

4 jan 2016

20 feb 2017 / we made and inquiry

15 march 2017

we are so tired of the waiting game , and i'm wondering if there is anything we can do to push things further , inquiries , congress men , do they really help ??

and how often should we send inquiries , i'm thinking of doing it monthly , but i'm also worried the CO will get angry and reject us

did anyone get the visa from the embassy here in Cairo recently, specially after a long wait in AP ??

THANKS

I'm sure there is know real way of knowing... what causes them to place people on AP longer than others... especially when cases seem so similar? I worry for Ahmed being placed on AP... we are already mentally preparing for the possibility. He's never left Egypt, he's only been working as an engineer (telecommunications) since 2015 (as he finished his university studies in 2015). We've been married and living together nearly 8 years, have a 6 year old daughter together and are of the same religion. I'd think our situation would be straight forward... but I still worry nonetheless.

There is always a way to know but a lot of people don't know. You can visit fbi website and take a look from there.

It doesn't matter for them if you are in the same religion or even having kids, when it comes to federal check no feelings or motions for them, they will do the job and never look on family side.

wish for you the best and acceptance and never sperad and be always united.

Thank you for your well wishes for us. Insha'Allah everything will be fine. I understand that family makes no difference for them... I just didn't understand exactly what flags them to do a more thorough check. Anyways, we're not too worried. Alhamdulilah. If  he is put on AP, then we will just have to wait it out until he's cleared. You and your family take care and enjoy your lives together in the US. I am happy that after all that time of you staying patient and enduring such a long separation, you were finally reunited with you family. Alhamdulillah.

Has anyone had an experience with 5+ months of AP and was approved? Please, share your experience.

Did the embassy call you? What did they say/ask for? How long after that did you get your visa?

Last July, I was put into administrative processing after applying for an F1 student visa to pursue a masters degree in one of the top US universities with a full scholarship. The university extended the deadline to start my study twice but in January 2017 (after about 6 months of waiting), I missed the two deadlines & lost the scholarship as well as 2 years of preparation efforts before that. Therefore, I emailed the embassy & made a withdrawal of my visa application. One week after withdrawing my application, I got an email from the embassy (full of grammatical & spelling mistakes) telling me that processing has finished & asking me to send my passport to the embassy. At that time, I checked the ceac website & found that my case was still under administrative processing & didn't get any update since the date of the interview. I replied to the embassy to clarify that I have made a withdrawal and to express my surprise that the embassy didn't revise its message for grammatical & spelling errors :D. The next day, I got a very angry call from a lady working in the consular section blaming me for how could I dare to point out the mistakes in their email message (as if they are like a god who should not be questioned). Anyways, I met anger with anger & blamed her for the long waiting time, the loss of my 2 years preparing to go to the US, the long separation of families of other visa applicants, and the arrogance of the consular section when it comes to sending an automatic reply to email messages without even reading the questions or caring about study deadlines. When I told her that the ceac website doesn't show any update since the day of the interview, she became confused and didn't know what to say so after digging with her a bit she said that the consular has unilaterally took the decision to issue my visa (without waiting for Washington D.C.). So I told her that it's suspicious that this decision came 1 week after withdrawing my visa application and if she had read the emails that I sent months ago, she would have known about the university deadline 1 week before the consular's decision. I am not sure if the embassy was really intending to issue my visa or if this was just emotional play to punish those who dare to withdraw their visa application but anyways, it was a very angry call but I felt happy to express my feelings towards administrative processing which is very unfair to anyone who has a common last name. On checking the ceac website now, I found out that my case is still under administrative processing with an update on 23-April-2017 ( the state department doesn't even know what the embassy has done )

Hahaha! that actually made my day. I'm sorry you couldn't get your masters. But the fact that you were able to address their arrogance, made my day for real!
But let me guess, you didn't get the visa anyway?

Oh yeah, you can imagine the frustration of 6 months coming out in a single phone call :D She was left confused as if she discovered for the first time the amount of stress people under administrative processing go through. However, the fact remains that neither the embassy nor the US government care about our waiting time. I personally believe that the AP system is deliberately made to emotionally torture people from Muslim countries. In a perfect world, people under administrative processing who finally get their visa should at least receive a formal apology for the pain the went through, but what can we do! we are just one item in a long list of people who deserve an apology :)

After missing the university deadline, I made a withdrawal of my visa application & that was 1 week before the embassy contacted me. Until this point, I don't know why the consular section said it can issue my visa one week after the same consular section has confirmed my application withdrawal. Why did they act as of they didn't know that I had withdrawn my application, something is fishy here! Also, the embassy in Cairo is not known to have the courage to take any step without the approval from D.C. (i.e. not waiting for the AP to finish on the ceac website)

I truly sympathize, Hesham. Indeed, AP is the worst experience ever. I've been approved after 6 months AP, or so they said, but I remain in AP without any further updates. There are things, that I cannot talk about here, that basically were affected and may even cause more harm to our lives because of this AP #######.

What else can we do? Nothing.
