Couple things, 1. you can be in AP for a variety of different things. They use that name to mean all kinds of different stuff. Basically it means they are reviewing your case. But the reasons can be a numerous.

In our situation, they had to do a background check. We were approved by the CO at the interview.

Other times they don't have all the proof they need or there's documents missing, point is AP is the name for everything that means not done with your case yet.

2. they don't tell you everything and they often tell you something that isn't exactly true. Our case and lots and lots of other cases have been told 'oh it will only be ___ amount of time' only to have it go much much longer. So take the time the tell you as a guide but its not really accurate for most.

3. they will not answer your specific questions, they will send you the same email over and over again, doesn't much matter what you say in the email. Sometimes they won't answer. That's how it goes. The email reply you got is the same email we've all gotten over and over again.

4. if you are getting updates that means they are working on your case. If they are working on your case then you should feel ok. Something is happening. Sounds like you've had lots of updates and you haven't been waiting that long.

Hope that helps.

PS Always good to read what others have to say here on VJ!

they never tell anything Kristyn, they're always send same E-mail, what I know is when you apply by USCIS they are making background check on you (Petitioner) in US and all these process with review your file and history never take than 5 months , but when it come to US embassy it takes years, does that make since?

like it's same USCIS with same team with same departments and take longer, why why why why why ?

I respect they are doing them job and protecting US from bad people and I totally understand and respect that, but also they need to make any exception for any couple having kids between them because these kids need both parents and it's huge on the mother only to be responsible and have everything on her own.

I really appreciate what the embassy doing and wish to hear from them soon.

Yes... We want children, too, but waiting until we're stable and not going through this visa stuff anymore. I don't want to be pregnant and having this stress!

not at all. U know some pregnancy treats people differently tho I have not gotten pregnant before but I knw. My thing there is, while if u get pregnant n get sick who pays the bills. I know of few people who got pregnant n got sick from day one..hubby's paid all of the bills till current. That got me afraid. Girl wait until me come.. AP has it own stress. Plus pregnancy. Double trouble.. Lol. ? Edited by bookman

Now... What I have seen today after browsing VJ for hours is some people are told they don't need AP, are not given any paper indicating so, and then find they are in AP. That is very unfair. They just need to be direct and straight with people! They should start AP once petitions are approved! At least the name check part. Hell, if they really wanted, they could do the fingerprint part then, too. I've been fingerprinted for a state professional license before. I see no reason they can't manage to make that happen. I feel like they don't care.

I know it's really unfair. We're not from Egypt but same thing happened to us. My husband interview consisted of two questions how we met and if either of us were ever married. CO told my husband you'll get your passport back within a month. He didn't hand him any slip but we're in AP. ?

I can relate to this situation. we have two kids I had them both without my husband. pregnancy is very hard. It's not something everyone can do on their own. I'm also in school so being pregnant while dealing with patients got me so stressed out. I'm glad I made it through my semester alive. But the saddest moment of all is when you're about to welcome that new life into the world and you look around and your husband isn't there with you. That moment just brings all your expectations down. ? But I'm blessed at least I had my family with me. Allah is watching and he will get us though this inshallah ?

Ahmed

We got an update today. Finally an update!

As to your question, I've emailed the embassy before yes. I was emailing pretty much every 2 weeks since May (that was after we waited 2 months from the interview with nothing).

They just send me the same reply over and over. Its not a real email about my case. Its basically blah blah 'mandatory administrative processing'

I don't know if that helps or not. Probably doesn't make any difference. But I always feel better just emailing, that way I'm doing something.

Congrats on the update. ??

congrats on completing the semester and the kids. I could not handle the stressed, I dropped all of my classes. It was a hard decision to make, especially paying from my own pocket, but I couldnot afford dropping my GPA. Too much pressure.Hubby's got Put on AP March 3rd and worse of all I lost my apartment in April after buying new furnitures and everything. I was hoping that hubby's would have gotten his visa one week after interview.. My plans was to get him over March 19, 2016...i could not think of anything else..money is all gone. How do I start? Worse year I had ever had in the U. S of A (2016)☹️
