I'm really happy to hear this very GOOD Congratulations
When was an interview
What about your husband's interview ? and additional documents for him

it was August 26, there were no additional papers they handed him a 221G and gave him back his passport, we knew we would need the family registration that all the papers were gathered before, we are an age difference of just 3 years

I will tell you that if any time it updates sent back to NVC, or if they ever tell you that, you might as well forget the K1 have your fiance come to Egypt get married and file the CR1. when K1's get sent back they will be left to expire.

really the CR1 is the better visa in my opinion it will cost far less, but since you have already gotten the interview just wait it out send the embassy an email to check the status.

Hello all,

I'm writing for some advice because I am in k1 visa process and our packet has arrived at the embassy in Cairo.  I've been following this thread trying to find out exactly what to expect from Egypt since it appears more difficult than other countries. I am so scared hearing about the engagement parties because we had one and we had sent pictures in with our i129f. We had used an immigration lawyer and he thought it was great in proving the legitimatcy of our relationship. I wasn't wearing a dress or anything too fancy but he had relatives come over and I got to meet a lot of people and we have pictures with rings.  Now I feel like this is going to be a red flag, but I don't know what we can do at this point. Any advice?

Hi Chels2401,

Engagement pictures are good. Why would they be red flags? In our case we had a small engagement party before my fiance’s interview so he was able to bring our photos with him.  It must have been a good move because my fiancé got a call from the embassy last week saying his visa is ready after months in AP.  We have not received his passport and visa yet but isA we will before the week ends.

Regarding the K-1 process in Egypt, our experience was not out of the ordinary if you compare it with other Middle Eastern or Muslim countries.  The Administrative Processing is definitely a source of frustration but in our case my fiance have been in AP for almost 5 months before we saw hope.  To be honest, I am not entirely sure if Egypt being an Arab nation has something to do with the wait time, it could be just that the embassy is experiencing a backlog due to increased visa applications.

My advice is be prepared for a long wait. While it is frustrating (unfortunately emailing the embassy for updates will not do any good), let them do their work within the indicated time frame and follow up after 60-90 days.

Goodluck!
