Hi VJers. We just got married yesterday. Yay yay!!

We are getting ready for the next paper forms. The county officer told us that we will receive our marriage certificate in about 6-8 weeks. My I-94 will expire on July 15. So hopefully we have already the copy of our certificate before it will get expire.

Just file whenever you get all the documents. It doesn't have to be before your I-94 expires.

Congratulations! I'm not sure about Florida, but we were able to download a "temporary" MC in Hawaii while waiting for the "official" copy. We sent that with a printout from the website stating that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for the official copy. We had no problem at all. Good luck.

I got married in Los Angeles County on 2nd June. I have the same issue. I have seen that we DO have to submit AOS before the I-94 expires. I also need to get my EAD ASAP so I can work.

Although we got married in LA, we actually live in Portland. But if I can be certain to get m marriage certificate in person, I will fly down. Has anyone had success in getting their marriage certificate in person form LA county when the wedding was a week ago?

It makes no difference as far as AOS is concerned. Of course, the sooner the better in general.

Stop stressing out about the I-94 expiring there are LOADS of people on here that filed days, weeks, months even years after there I-94 expired and still got there GC perfectly fine... The ONLY thing that matters is that you got married within them 90days that's all Uscis care about

There is no time limit/deadline in which to file for AOS. As long as you married within 90 days then you are eligible to file based on your approved I-129F petition and fulling the requirements of the K-1 visa. However, you will be out of status and begin to accrue unlawful presence between your I-94 expiring and filing for AOS. Once you file for AOS, you then enter a period of authorized stay while waiting for your green card approval.
