He just starting doing that kinda stuff this year.

I am not sure how all that works, but wouldn't he pay taxes on all the cash earnings at the end of the year?

Usually, you need to send estimated quarterly payments or you can get hit with a penalty at the end of the year.

Good point. I'll ask around.

What should we put for his income now?

Go with unemployed and 0 income or self-employed and estimating cash earnings? He will pay tax on it once his LLC is started.

Self employed income only counts after a year when it shows on their taxes.

Find a joint sponsor.

If you file this without a joint sponsor you're just setting yourself up for failure. RFE's sometimes don't show up on time, or at all without a lot of work on the part of the USC. You have a limited time in which to fix the RFE too.

If he's in his 1st year of self-employment, estimated quarterly taxes are not required yet. Of course, he still needs to show that he has an income that will be reported in the future. To do that, he's going to have to show bank statements showing sufficient deposits to justify the income he is claiming.

Thanks everyone for your advice!

I asked around last night and was able to find a friend of ours who will submit another I864 and be the joint sponsor.

Hopefully I will be able to send everything off in its completeness by mid next week. Fingers crossed and thanks again :)
