We got an RFE for a marriage certificate. We got the certificate we needed and sent it back to the NVC. They received it last Friday yet we STILL don't have case completion. When I call the automated line it just says "we have found information missing. We mailed a letter on February 23" (which was the RFE).

How long does it take these people to look at a simple document and complete the case??

On 3/2/2006 I was asked to provide a copy of the marriage certificate in the original language. I sent it 3 day priority mail. Her K3 was approved on 3/14/2006. The time it takes depends on the service center (which one - Vermont is very fast) as well as the details of your individual case.

It takes forever. We got the same RFE for both the I-130 and the K-3. It wasnt that we didn't send to begin with, but Sweden has something special and we sent the wrong one. Anyways for the K-3 we sent the information on 1/13 and they have it as received on 1/26 and for the I-130 the certificate was sent in the last week of February and marked received on 3/9. One thing to note is that even though they are marked as received on those dates I did not actually get notification for a few days after. Good luck on your case.

There is always the chance that you wont get an updated msg on the automated response service re the receiving of the missing document (marriage certificate). The next thing you may hear just may be that case is complete. Have you tried talking to an operator for peace of mind that they have indeed received it.

My petitions are at NBC and CSC. No matter where your application is though, they can be as quick or as slow as they choose to be. Too many factors. The person with your case might have taken a vacation before your certificate was delivered which would explain a delay. If you are concerned they did not receive it at all, I would call them and see what you can find out.

I called them on Tuesday night and they said they haven't received it (though our postal tracking shows that it did arrive at the NVC last Friday). The girl at the NVC said it can take a few days for them to open the mail. I wouldn't worry so much except that I've heard all the horror stories about the NVC losing stuff.

Yep, indeed. Perhaps give them till after the weekend then give them another call. I wouldnt be surprised if you are updated on the auto response system by then :) All the best with it.

it took NVC around 2 weeks to complete our process.. I called them every day (there were some papers filled wrong) and I had them all looking for it just to make me stop calling... it took around 5 days from receipt of the correct papers for acceptance.

Keep calling them. We had to sent in a birth certificate two times after RFE because they kept losing it; we only found out because we finally called them again after the phone message didn't change for 5 weeks.

I hope you're more successful and wish you the best of luck!
