Hi all, I am happy to announce our petition was approved and sent to the NVC. Now I am a bit confused as what to do next. According to the flowchart I should send her a copy of my petition packet that i originally mailed in along with a few other items. Nothing asks for my tax returns since I am not self employed but I keep seeing that she is going to need them from other people's posts. Where can I find the full list of what to include with my I-134 Affidavit of Support? Also will I be receiving any further instructions since both notifications are kind of lacking in actual instruction?

Anyone past this point please give me some guidance

Thank you in advance

P

Sending her a copy of the original petition packet is not necessary, and it is more just a CYA deal incase there is something else you may want to reference. I did not send a copy to my Fiancee.

1. You or she needs to start preparing some sort of documentation that shows that you continued the relationship after the initial I-129f filing.

2. The Tax Transcripts will be needed, however China only requests the most recent filing, but to be safe I gave the past 3 years worth.

3. Your next step right now is to wait

4. After the packet leaves NVC in a few days to a week it will go to the Embassy, from there the Embassy will mail Packet 3 usually via EMS. Packet 3 takes about a month to arrive once the Embassy receives your case.

Packet 3 only requests 3 things (all of these are performed by the beneficiary, not the petitioner)

Prepare 2 Passport Style Photos

Make a copy of your Passport Personal Page

Fill out the DS-160 online, and print the Confirmation page.

Packet 4 instructions will arrive via email approximately 4-5 days after you send Packet 3 back to the Embassy.

Here is an Image album I created that shows Packet 3, and the Packet 4 Instruction email, as well as screengrabs of where to go to print out the actual Packet 4 information.

Thank you for your response. I will look at these links later tonight. I am still confused though as to why the VisaJourney outline says to mail the I-134 and supporting evidence to her after receiving the NOA2? I would think that should be mailed to the NVC or some other government agency?

again thank you for your information, I hope things are well in your marriage :)

They say to mail it after NOA2, because sometimes it can take a long time for information to be received in other countries. I personally hand-delivered my I-134, I met her in Guangzhou the day before the interview and gave her the documents. This also allowed for me to see her again, and for her to bring my passport to the interview as additional proof of the relationship (for us it was very very beneficial). Our interview pretty much ended and was approved the moment she took out the passport and showed it to the CO.

I just got home from a visit June 1, and after a terrible flight home they approved the petition that night lol. I suppose I could return for a short trip for the interview. Thank you again for all your input :)

It's not necessary, but I know it will make her, and yourself both very happy to see each other again, and it will also be good moral support for her knowing that you are there waiting for her.

Agree it is not necessary to stand by while she interviews, you will not be allowed inside. Make sure she knows the important stuff to pass the interview, (see current threads on interview questions) good luck.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

You're still probably at least a month away from the interview, depending on if you are lucky enough to get an early interview date. The hardest part now is waiting while your petition makes it's way from NVC to Guangzhou. Echoing the other posts, sending your original petition packet is not necessary, but the I-134 with at least the latest year's tax transcript is. If you haven't already ordered those from the IRS, now is the time to do it.

Good luck, and remember - patience is a virtue. The wait still sucks, but it'll be over before you know it.

Our Timeline (click the button!):

10/05/15 - Sadly, she had to return to China for work. We keep talking.
11/12/15 - I leave to visit her in Shanghai. A very beautiful city, if I do say so myself.

11/16/15 - My turn to leave for work. :(

12/10/15 - I-129F sent to USCIS lockbox.

12/16/15 - NOA1 email received.

12/21/15 - NOA1 hardcopy received.

01/21/16 - NOA2 email & text received. 36 days processing time!

02/04/16 - Sent to Guangzhou embassy

02/07/16 - She's come to visit for CNY :dancing:

02/20/16 - Our holidays together are over *sigh*. Back to waiting...

I would get the official transcripts from the IRS. It's free, other than having to wait for them to mail it to you. GUZ accepted my TurboTax 1040 for the current year, but I had IRS transcripts for the previous 3 years as well.

Trying to decide when she should file the DS160 as well? Should we wait for package 3 to file that and pay the fee or should we do that now and get it out of the way?

P3 is taking forever tbh. I am at almost 30 days since they received it in GUZ on the 12th according to the GUZ. I guess it's around 30 days again. Lord knows how long for the p4 and interview scheduling. I am tempted to try to schedule once the p3 is sent if possible?

P3 is the longest wait from GUZ, ours took 28 days. The average is 28-31 days to receive P3 from when the Embassy receives your case from NVC.

Once you complete P3 and send it back it will only take about 5 days before you get P4. P4 is sent via email. From that moment, it's a mad dash scramble to get an Interview date. You will need to refresh the website on a regular basis, at around 12pm China Time (GMT +8) (for example 12pm China time right now is 12am EST, 11pm CST, 10pm MST, and 9pm PST)

You don't need to file the DS160, you just need to get a copy of the transcripts and form to your fiance for her interview. You'll file another one later with the AOS process that uses a different form.

And this is what I get for not checking my form numbers. :ranting: Scratch my advice about not filing the DS-160. I was thinking the I-134 (which is the affidavit of support)...that's the one that doesn't need to be filed, and your fiance will take to her interview.

I believe that you can file the DS160 at any point in the process, but I think you have to have that filed before going to the medical interview. I'll ask my fiance if she remembers when exactly we did that part and if it was before or after packet 3.
