does anyone know after the K1 visa gets approved as to how long we have to travel to the US ? for example after the Consulate approves the visa is it 6 months that we have for the visa validity?

I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe it's 6 months from the date of your medical, that they stamp your passport with.

Edit: Dorothy, hang in there hun! I'm thinking of you each night at notification time. These approvals you're seeing in the thread are pretty far outside the norm it seems (I'm not calling you out but for example Vmlvjemm's estimate was August 30th to Sept 2nd) - you've JUST touched your estimated date so I hope you hear something this week!! The process isn't done in order of receipt and some people just have had great luck or a faster officer's desk their file has landed on from our June filers. Keep the good thoughts going! It'll come!

Don't start to get nervous yet. My NOA1 was 27 May. I'm a month before you and I haven't heard anything yet.

OHHHH HAPPY DAY, no email, no text like with my NOA 1. I opened my app after walking my dog and saying a prayer and it said received June 13th, I was expecting nothing else, I hit refresh and there it was the most beautiful shade of grey I have ever seen, Case was approved.

Good luck to the rest of the June filers. PS I was fully expecting a RFE as I only sent in the judges decision for my finances annulment. She's from the Philippines. Officially there are four documents needed, which she has in her possession for the upcoming interview. Come on NVC. I have a VJ friend who was approved July 7th and still waiting on his MNL #

I agree with you. I know someone else that their date is 23 May and they haven't heard anything yet. Yesterday a person tried to explain the process at USCIS and said that:

Each case is different. If the agent enters your information for a background check and some thing comes up, but a different applications has theirs coming back with a full report that can be evaluated. Once the agent completes their case it's sent on while the agent is still waiting on your information to come back. That information may take a day, a week or month(s) to return. In the meantime the agent keeps processing other case while waiting for your file to be updated. Nothing is guaranteed in this process.

So maybe that explains why others are easy and approved fast and others have to wait a bit. But I think it boils down to are you lucky or not. Maybe our person processing our cases went on vacation. Keep praying. It will come. On the bright side, nearly all petitions are approved. Just takes some longer than others.

In the meantime, just prepare all of your documents. Request the ones you need and take your passport pictures. That way when it is approved there will be no stress till the interview because everything will be ready already.

Oh wow! That's that's not good! That really stinks and will make the wait even worse, because once approved you have to wait even longer. Sorry. Yes, I hope that we all get approved fast. It's hard to be the ones left behind. Let's pray for today!
