It can be good to go ahead and at least get a state ID. It will expire with the I-94, but when you go to add her to bank accounts, all they want is a Social Security Card  and state ID.

I agree, any form of State issued ID is good to have and it will come in very handy.

Driver's license Update #4.  Good news.  USCIS verified my wife's "Legal Status" because we had a pending I-485 with the State of Texas and they gave her a 1 year expiration which is much longer than we were expecting.  My wife took her drivers license test on Friday and Passed!!! Yay!

So amending my lessons learned...Go ahead and apply for your drivers license as soon as you can and even with an expired I-94.  It may take longer, but in the end and having to go through a longer "legal status" verification process, its worth it.  My wife can now drive as her EAD is still pending after 64 days.  And she can renew her license after she receives her Resident Card giving her an additional 2 years.  Hope that helps everyone.

You don't need to have a state ID, and even if you did, it would expire on the date your I-94 expires- at least here in Texas.

That is true, however, if you have Texas do a manual verification of "legal status" with USCIS and have a pending I-485, Texas will give you a 1 year expiration on either a Drivers License or State ID.  Just went through that process last week and was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting a much shorter expiration date.

How did you get the SSN in the married name? When we went to the SSN office they wouldn't change it from the maiden, even with the marriage certificate. We have to go back once CIS clears her status change under her new last name.

Agreed.  The person doesn't know their job.  We had a SS card in her maiden name and after we were married went back a few days later with the marriage certificate and changed her last name.  No hassle and had the new card in a few weeks.  Just depends on the person working.  Our office was very knowledgeable and very helpful.

Sounds great! We moving out of state for a new job opportunity. Plan to be back to TX in the future but yeah, we will explore that option when we get to our new station. Thanks.

Has the check been cashed?

We mailed ours Nov. 14, and the check was cashed Dec. 5. I got emails on the 6th, saying " Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing." It also gave the receipt number, and said a notice would be mailed.

No, it has not been cashed yet. I looked your post to me last time, thinking maybe it will just take as long as yours, but still nothing happened. So sad and worrying...

We just received a rejection for submitting an improper amount. Is $1140 incorrect? We just have one person (my wife).

Adjustment of Status is $1,140. You also need to include $85 for Biometrics, for a total of $1,225.00

Thank you, and Dee Elle. I thought her recent biometrics from Manila voided that requirement/fee. We didn't include the $85

There isn't any additional fee for the advance parole or employment authorization, is there?

Correct.

My wife and I are not planning to use the advance parole, but I wanted her to have it in case there was an emergency, and she needed to travel.
