Hole in visa package

Me and my fiancé recently completed the K1 visa process! She received her visa, and is flying here on August 23 (she has to stay in Russia for awhile to complete her degree). Only problem is, she received the package with the visa in it, and it has a hole (there is also a thing on the package that says it must not be opened by anyone except for the us immigration officer.

The problem is, since it arrived like that, we're not sure who to contact about it, if it will be a problem, or what :( I've tried calling the USCIS and I only get 'not available at this time' responses to my calls. Does anyone know a number I can call, or have any information about a visa package arriving to the recipient with a hole in it already?

Many people had holes in their Visa packages. If the hole isn't terrible you don't need to worry, just be careful to not make it any larger.

Several have posted about receiving packets with tears in them. As long as its not so big that documents are falling out you should be ok. Take extra care with it that it does not tear anymore. You can read these threads below and use the search tool to see more

Can you giving me an idea on how long it took you time wise from NVC to Interview? Thank you

Everyone will be different, each consulate processes at a different speed, but for me, from NVC receipt to Interview Scheduled(not the actual day of the interview, but the day we started the scheduling process), was about 5 weeks.

Yes I know that everyone is different I am just trying to get an idea because I really want to be there for the interview with my fiancé. I was working in Russia and that is how I meet my fiancé but I have been transferred to another country as of 2 weeks ago and my visa will expire on September 8 for Russia and I am just getting an idea if I will be able to be there with her to go through the interview or not with her.

Well, if you look at the K-1 timelines for all VJ members for Russia, the people who currently have interviews scheduled, and have filled in their timelines, the time from NOA2 till the interview is between 2 and 3 months, but some have taken longer than 5 months for their interview, because it is in the hands of the consulate. If you are so close the the expiration of your Visa, just renew it. Besides that, you will want to have a current Visa to accompany her on trips back home, because she will want to make trips back home.
