Hello,

I've looked through past threads but can't find an exact answer to my question. Hope you can help!

My fiance (the US citizen) will be filing our I-129F shortly. I currently live in Hong Kong, but am a UK citizen, and will be returning to the UK in August. On the I-129F, it asks for the alien fiancee's mailing address, address abroad and the embassy / consulate abroad that the fiancee will apply for a visa. As I live in Hong Kong at the time of filing, we are planning to put my Hong Kong address as my 'address abroad' but give my parents' address in the UK as my mailing address, and list London as the embassy abroad that I will apply for a visa at.

Will USCIS have a problem with this?

And when I do move back to the UK, should I inform USCIS? (My mailing address won't change as it's my parents' address in the UK, where I'll be moving.)

Thank you in advance! This website is very helpful :)

In theory, that's how it works. Will some human see HK and route your file there ignoring your stated embassy? Weird things can sometimes happen but hopefully not.

Hard to say if trying an address change will work. In August, your case could be at USCIS, the NVC, or on the way to London.

Once the file gets to London, things are pretty much online and even if mail to you went mistakenly to HK, you can still navigate the embassy part successfully without ever receiving the snail mail correspondence. Nothing mailed to the beneficiary is critical to completing the visa part. (In London).

Thank you Nich-Nick!

I guess I'll just see how it goes then, and cross my fingers that they pay attention to my mailing address and chosen embassy. Maybe I'll include a letter explaining that I'll be moving back to the UK in August to be completely sure.
