Trump on black supporter: 'Look at my African-American over here'

I disagree.

I think there is a fundamental difference between saying "We don't want your vote" and having a difference of opinion as to what will actually help.

No serious politician in recent years ever said they don't want black voters. Except perhaps Michigan gov. Rick Snyder when he drowned the GOP brand in the Flint River.

But to use an example - To question whether i.e. BlackLivesMatter is a helpful organization or a conglomeration of people who are actually hurting the black community - That's different. If I think BLM is doing African-Americans a great disservice, I'd rather say so than pander to them for votes.

Here's the issue;

What has the GOP done in terms of opinion or otherwise? All I've ever seen them do is say black people are lazy and criminals. We're all on welfare, or don't have jobs. If we get brutalized or killed by police, no matter what it's our fault. Like I said, in terms of racism, it doesn't exist, even though it's clear as day in most cases when it happens.

As a black man who's been brutalized by police, seen up close and personal how we're treated in comparison to our white counterparts by the police, I can't understand why BLM is such an issue for folks. No one is saying our lives matter more than anyone else's, but that our lives matter too.

Awesome. He's got my vote!!!!!!!!

wait for it

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Example

Trump says he represents common sense and and the aspirations of everyday people. My point: saying you represent a group does not mean you represent everyone in that group.

Thus, BLM does not represent 'all black people.'

Thus, denouncing BLM or any other group claiming to represent 'the black community' is not an attack on any race.

Here is what some overly sensitive, politically correct, social justice warriors said about that topic:

House Speaker Paul Ryan calling them the textbook definition of a racist comment though he stood by his endorsement of the presumptive presidential nominee.

While I oppose the Democratic nominee, Donald Trumps latest statements, in context with past attacks on Hispanics, women and the disabled like me, make it certain that I cannot and will not support my partys nominee for president regardless of the political impact on my candidacy or the Republican Party, Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois

Stanley Hubbard, a Minnesota broadcast company billionaire, recently gave $100,000 to a pro-Trump group and describes himself as a reluctant Trump backer. He said of Trumps judge comments: Its ridiculous. Hes out of line. You dont attack a federal judge, and you certainly dont attack him on the heritage of his parents. Its totally off the wall, and I dont even have words to explain it.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., the only black Republican senator, called Trumps comments on the judge racially toxic

Lets face it, meet the old Trump, just like the new Trump, said Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who has long opposed the billionaires candidacy. Weve got what weve got. Thats not somebody who can win the White House.

This is one of the worst mistakes Trump has made. I think its inexcusable, Gingrich, a former presidential contender, said on Fox News Sunday.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Republicans in Washington, DC, right now you are letting your presumptive nominee, who is making racist statements, run roughshod over what remaining national reputation we have as a national party. You have to start calling him out today. This is not where you can do the slow boil. You have to start calling him out and saying youre going to retract endorsement today. Or else the United States Senate is in danger. Kelly Ayottes seat is in danger. Rob Portmans seat is in danger. Ron Johnsons seat is in danger. A lot of other seats are in danger. If the Speaker of the House continues to endorse a man making racist statements and really tearing away the very fabric of Madisons separation of powers that talks about an independent judiciary. The House of Representatives is in danger.

Today is June 7, 2016 Republicans, call him out. Back away from those endorsements. Make him back down on the Muslim ban. Make him back down on this racist comment he made about a man born in Indiana saying he is incapable of being a fair judge because of where his parents are born, or else you will lose the Senate, you will lose the House, you will lose the presidency, you will lose governorships. You will lose your standing as a national party. Its that simple.

I think you're mistaking me for a Trump supporter.

I'm not. If I could vote this year I'd go third party.

That being said. I do think it's worrysome that rather than discussing the fact that judge Curiel is openly affiliated with the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association, it has once again turned into solely being about race.

Does heritage matter? No.

Does political affiliation matter? Absolutely.

Conflict of interest is relevant in the judiciary.

I can only imagine the outrage if an AIPAC-affiliated judge with Israeli parents presided over a case involving an openly pro-Palestinian politician.

Trump's mistake: He went for 'Mexican' rather than affiliation. He'll lose some support.

The media's mistake: Ignoring any legitimate debate so as not to appear racist. Trump will gain some support.

I suspect that if people (and the media) on both sides applied more critical thinking, we'd have less polarized as a nation.

Are sock accounts even allowable on VJ?

Once knew this guy elsewhere that had some 20 socks... and he'd have conversations with himself, much to the rest of the users amusement. Fun times.
