Hi! My wife and I got married by a local minister in MD last 2015.

My wife, being a US permanent resident (originally from the Philippines), filed for my F2A a month afterward.

Went back to the Philippines, but was not able to register with the local census (National Statistics Office) because I got a new job immediately after coming back to my country.

Never got around to update the NSO, as we both thought that it would be inconsequential to declare marriage locally, if we got married abroad.

We're at the point where the NVC is asking for supporting documents, some of these being the police and NBI clearances.

Now, me and my wife are concerned that my marital single would show up as "single" in these police and NBI clearances.

Should we update the local census regarding our updated marital status before getting these documents?

Many thanks in advance, hoping for a quick reply.

For F2A cases, US Embassy Manila will ask you to provide Original copy of CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) showing that you are already married to your wife.

Thanks for the reply! Although now we now have more questions than answers:

Please note that we got married in the States (MD = Maryland) and not in the Philippines

By having to show an "Original copy of CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) showing that you are already married to your wife", does this imply that we need to register with the census / NSO?

We do have both our marriage license and certificate from the county court.
