Good morning all,

My finance went to Juarez May 26, and per the instructions in Package 3, had her physical at one of the approved clinics and had her fingerprints and photos taken at CAS.

May 27, she had her interview, which she passed.

She mentioned that she had to take another set of fingerprints at the consulate.

She left Juarez May 26. May 30 was a holiday so the consulate was closed.

She received a phone call from the consulate 31 May stating that her visa is ready BUT the machine that takes fingerprints in the consulate failed to capture her fingerprints, and that she needs to return to Juarez to have them done again. I am not sure how they did not know as they were taking the fingerprints that the system was not either recording or saving them.

My questions are as follows:

1 - Why did the consulate had to take fingerprints at the consulate if she already took them sucessfully at CAS?

2 - If for some reason, she has to take them at Juarez, could she take them at a consulate closer to her home? She lives in Puebla, which is about 2 hours from Mexico City.

Paying $400 + for an flight, plus hotel for 10 minutes at the consulate does not make sense to me. She asked the individual who called her and he said he would need to find out.

After all the stress of the K-1 process, only to be held up at the very end due to an issue on the consulate's end is extremely nerve racking.

Thanks for any input.

I can't tell we why they didn't do this or that. If they visa is approved and you have been given a chance to do something before you get your passport in hand, I will advise you do it without questioning them. Anyways congrats to the approval.

Regardless of the why and I understand the hardship, I'd call it a good thing overall. Try to make the best of it and make sure the fingerprint machine works this time. They should have known right away beforehand that it didn't work. Good Luck and congratulations.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, it is an inconveinience, but my fiancee needs her passport back with the visa before she can move the U.S. of A.

I will wait until the consulate contacts her again so that she can schedule an appointment to have her fingerprints taken at the
consulate.
