Dear kind people of VJ -

I'm just preparing (physically and mentally) myself for my K-1 Visa interview in Jakarta, Indonesia. I checked on US Embassy Jakarta Website about the documents required to be submitted for the interview process. As a mean to hopefully expedite my waiting time / relief my anxious self I thought of preparing whatever I can do now.

The list bellow are quoted from the http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/fiance_k1_visa.html and my queries regarding this list are typed in blue.

Please note that I, the Beneficiary, is an Indonesian citizen and my fiancé, the petitioner, is an American citizen.

Documents needed by the beneficiary for the issuance of a fiancé(e) / K visa:

1. Passport must be valid for 8 months or more (Checked - Done)

2. DS-160 (Will complete later)

3. Birth Certificate (Checked - Done)

4. Name change Certificate (Question: What is this? and How to obtain one in Indonesia?)

5. Death or Divorce Decree (if applicable from Petitioner or Beneficiary) (Not Applicable)

6. Military discharge, arrest, prison, court records; U.S. immigration documents (Not Applicable)

7. Police Certificate

Each applicant aged 16 or older must have police clearance from any country where the applicant resided for one year or more
To learn on how to get police certificates by country, please clickhere
Please note Indonesian Police Certificate is not required

(Question 1: Just to clarify that I WILL NOT NEED a police clearance / SKCK for me, am I correct?)

(Question 2: I lived in Australia for 1.5 years (Feb 2014 - Jul 2015) for my Master study. Do I need to provide a Police Certificate / Clearance from Australian Federal Police?)

8. Original Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) from the Petitioner along with supporting evidence: (Will look into this babies later)

  1. One year U.S. income tax returns 1040 and W-2 (copies are acceptable)

  2. Bank statements or proof of assets

  3. Letter of employment or job offer

9. Two identical passport size photographs of each applicant (Checked - Done)

10. Medical Examination result (Will wait for notice from USCIS)

11. Evidence of relationships (photos, cards, letters, emails, etc) (Checked - Done. What we sent in I-129F plus the current ones)

12. Receipt for non refundable K-1 application fee, of USD 265.00, paid in IDR at current exchange rates by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from an Indonesian Rupiah bank account, or through cash payment at any CIMB Niaga bank in Indonesia up to six months before your appointment. Click here for Step By Step Procedure of US Embassy Visa Fee Payment (Will do so on a later date)

For each document, the applicant must bring:

  • Originals or original certified copies by the issuing office

  • Photocopies of the original documents

  • All documents should be accompanied by English translations

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your help and advise.

Best,

JM

Hello?? Anyone applied from Indonesia able to suggest anything?

4- Don't worry it about unless you legally changed your name at some point.

7- You don't need anything from the Indonesian police- correct. You will need a certificate from the Australians though.

I think those are your only questions on the list. The K-1 interview in Jakarta is easy for almost everyone.
