Hi all! We arent do for our ROC til next year but we do want to have a family, I am the LPR, i want to work, but we are working on having a baby for the time being. So my question is, is it gonna be a problem when we file for ROC if I havent worked or is working at that time? My husband and I both met a little later in life, and we both want to just start a family sooner rather than later and I will persue my career later on. We just dont know if thats gonna make us look bad for ROC if I, the LPR havent worked since getting married! We make it work financially without my help so we would rather i take care of everything since my husbands shifts are 12 hours long everyday night and dayshift. Might be a silly question, most likely, but you know these processes makes people have the weirdest questions ? Thank you for your time and help! Camilla

Thanks guys! Im used to working and love it! But i guess theres a time in life where its okay to make a family and not if the finances are able to hold it up! He makes enough for me and him and hopefully a baby! Its just me who was worried since i kinda feel obligated to contribute to the country and to the family! Sorry for the silly question but thanks a million for the sweet answers! ❤️

I know how you feel, but just remember that stay at home housewives are much more common in the US than Scandinavia (I was also very surprised by this, and for my own part not too happy about it). Good luck on your family-making :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

I think what the poster is asking is will there be a problem during ROC since she's not going to have tons of evidence for proof of marriage.

Everyone posts about all the information needed during ROC but house wife's usually will not have much besides joint tax returns, possibly bills etc. At least that's how it will be for me and my wife.

Housewife has the best to be approved. She has NO INCOME, which in this country is equal to be died or so. because even medical help for non-citizen and no money will be not provided, And if no husband who is taking care of and providing all, who else? I would put this fact in big letters and write in capslook style-"look. I depend on him 100%"

Thanks to you all! I know it was a silly question. I just wanna make sure we can be together no matter what life we choose ❤️ And youre right. Me as a scandinavian this whole new, not working being a housewife, is very different from whats even accepted in Scandinavia too. I think we tend to look down on it as well! I take is as a wonderful chance at making a family without jongling with career race and expectations! I hope it will all be fine! Thank you all for replying ?❤️

Why would they not have evidence just because she is not working?

Joint taxes

Joint mortgage or lease

Joint car ownership

Joint car insurance

Joint health insurance

Joint bank account(s)

Joint credit cards, or at least accounts where one is an authorized user

Power of attorney

Wills

Health directives

Listing the spouse as beneficiary of life insurance

Having children together

Evidence of vacations/travel together

*Enter other things I am forgetting to list here*

Here are the list of what I had. No RFE, automatic approval, 10 year green card in hand.

Joint tax returns, joint bank accounts, credit card as authorized user, health, dental and vision insurance as my spouse from my job, beneficiary of my life insurance as my spouse, getting some important mails at same address like social security and CR-1 green card, birth certificate of our child, pictures of us with family and friends during parties, at hospital when our baby was born and at vacations, few other things that I don't remember. Here are the list what I did not have that everyone talks about: lease or mortgage with both names, any kind of bills on her name, of course no employment or earning on her name, no joint car insurance or car ownership. Like I said did not get any RFE.

So you gather basically what you have but financial co mingling is must like joint tax returns and joint bank accounts. You do your best. There are lot of evidence you can gather even spouse is not working.
