Who ever thought it would be possible for two men or two women in love to marry in the US...let alone apply for their partners to come to the US on a visa to marry???? As maddening and as long and as frustrating as this whole K1 process has been so far, I keep telling myself how lucky Noom and I are that we can even have a chance to make our dreams come true and build a life together.

So Noom is off to Bangkok today to begin the task of collecting his documents to support our visa application; he'll soon be sending in Packet 3. He'll be in Bangkok for about a week gathering his birth certificate, his single certificate, and ordering his police clearance certificate. And he'll be getting the relevant documents translated from Thai to English. He'll be dealing with Thai bureaucracy...running here and there. But he has a solid plan for tackling it all. And I'm so proud of him...how organized and positive he is about the whole process and everything he has to do. And he's so confident that we're going to get the visa and that he'll be here with me soon!

It is so exciting to be at this stage of the process! Please wish us well and send positive thoughts our way. Thank you so much...and all the best to all of you!

I agree with you, I consider Maria Paula and I lucky too! We are excited and we have very similar timelines! My case is at the NVC and just waiting the consular process so we can get out Packet 3. We are almost ready. My fiancee is being very proactive about everything and I love the care she puts into every step and paperwork we have to deal with. Sometimes, I get too frustrated and she clams me down :luv: . I am sooooo in love with the woman sometimes I wonder if I tell/show her enough.

We are in our last lap. I can feel it. ALL the good energy to both of you guys and everyone that needs it.

I agree with you. The process isn't over yet but definitely we are in the right track. I can't wait for this journey to be over so we can finally be together with our loved one.

Good Job to your fiancé for not getting too overwhelmed with getting the documents together. Definitely these documents is going to take a toll in our sanity. However, the desire for us to be reunited will overcome any obstacles.

My fiancé will be going on her annual birthday trip to Libon, Portugal and as soon as she comes back she will head to Oslo Norway to get her Philippine NBI clearance fingerprinting done. Once I have that document, I send it to a representative in the Philippines so they can get her NBI clearance. After that, once she received it back, we will start scheduling the medical and interview.

I'm so proud of my fiancé for filling out the Packet 3 and paying for it. She doesn't want me to pay for her medical and interview fees as she said, it's her part in meeting me halfway. Comprising after all we are partners.

Meanwhile, he needs to get his birth certificate and his single certificate translated into English for the Embassy. Our case has still not arrived at the Embassy from NVC...10 days waiting so far...but if it arrives in the next few days and he receives Packet 3 by the middle of next week he'll be ready to respond immediately.

So things are good...just hoping our case reaches Bangkok soon!

I have a question to ask though... the k1 visa is valid for 4 months right, does someone know if I have to apply for the visa right away when the us embassy at santo domingo DR receives my approved petition or it has to be withing the 4 month period?

This will probably depend on the embassy you are going through, I don't think you need to apply right away. I've read of people asking the embassy to hold onto the approved petition for a year before they have their interview. Your best bet is it give the embassy a call or email them once they receive the petition and find out.

Hello and kamusta, fellow Ohio/Philippines couple!

My fiance just did his interview in Manila a couple weeks ago. He said the filipina consulate was brusk but polite, and the US consulate was very friendly. He was approved and has his visa in hand. The medical exam and CFO seminar were much more of a pain.
