Timeline

Hi Kim, when I look at your timeline I see:

"Based on timeline data, your EAD may be adjudicated between September 18, 2016 and September 22, 2016*."

That would give you very little time. And it's just an indication so no certainty there. Do you already have tickets back to Belgium?

if I were you I would definitely do something about it. You probably have proof, right? Reservations, invitations, invoices etc.

With the proof you could do a walk in to your local USCIS office. Show them all you have. I have no idea really if they see a wedding as urgent but I'd think it is!

I have to be back in the Netherlands before September 18; the indicator on my timeline says my EAD may be adjudicated between September 5 and September 9. If that were true there would still be the days before receiving it and I would be too late. I don't have a ticket yet, will buy something last minute. If I can't go back I'll have to take care of a lot of things from here and don't know if I will be able too. I also need to renew my passport. Much easier over there than dealing with the consulate.

Good luck and keep us updated! It's worth a visit to try I think, you must be stressed about it (I know I have my moments).

I am going to do some more research about this urgent AP. Let's keep everyone updated about anything we find out.

Not gonna lie, it is messing with my appetite and my sleep since we filed, since it seems to be going back down i am hoping to get it halfway september but if i have no news in the beginning of september i will have to go and see if we can get emergency ap. We have not bought tickets yet since we don't know if we will be able to make it. I wrote in my AP form that my intended travel would be september 1st for my wedding in belgium. I am so nervous, especially since a bunch of threads talk about how only deaths or something similar will get you AP. We do have our wedding invitations etc, and I'm sure my family can get the venue contract etc translated. Please do keep me updated!!

Keep breathing..... it's the only thing that truly helps to stay in the moment and not let stress and panic take over. I've learned that one from Mindfulness and yes, it does help. Not sleeping or eating won't. Let's not give them the power to mess with our health through the stress this whole situation creates.

Why not assemble a file (will keep you busy too so you can't think too much about failure) on what has been done, how many people have been invited, how much has been spent etc. all the proof you can come up with. So you'll be prepared if it comes to applying for an emergency AP.

And keep seeing yourself over there, without any worries, enjoying your wedding. Make it happen :)

You didn't have a RFE or RFIE, did you?

Yeah it was worse at first, I am more hopeful now!

I still hope it will be in time even without AP since the "local" field office is a 6 hour drive haha :) so far IHaven't gotten an RFE or an RFIE, so I am hopeful that i will be fine! I also just found a thread from a belgian who got married in the us 4 days before us, and got approved for emergency ap for their wedding abroad. The only difference is they had their plane tickets already. But i will make sure to gather as much evidence as possible when I get on the computer later. Hopefully it will all work out for both of us!!

I've been one of the lucky ones able to get health insurance without AOS/SSN etc but I've been told I have til the 11th September to provide them a SSN or they'll stop my insurance. Do you think it might be grounds for calling up soonish about EAD?

Good :) hope keeps us going!

Have you read the thread I posted a link too? I have been reading and it seems it's better to apply for an expedite AP. Emergency AP will cost you extra money whereas the Expedite AP is more of an advanced advance parole ;)

It does look like would be able to call about it, so you would not have to go to your local (far away) office. The USCIS says on their page about emergency travel that Severe financial loss to company or person is a reason for expedite AP. Which is the case in your case. It looks like the expedite can take over 2 weeks depending on who processes it so I wouldn't wait too long with applying for it.

Here they added a list that takes you through the calling process.

I still have to figure out how to get proof for my reasons <_< they might ask for that.

This sounds as if it is a reason to ask for expedite EAD. I assume you can get your SSN when you receive your EAD.

I'm not 100% sure about the grounds, but wouldn't hurt to try!

Sept 1 is just two weeks away!!

I got lucky with Janice and adding her to my insurance. She was K1 visa and we got her SSN 5 days after she was here, then two weeks later did a court house wedding and I added her to my health insurance that day. She is from the Philippines and had to do that sputum test and I knew within weeks of her arrival we would have to take her to the health department to be cleared again from all of that and it's not free!! :(

I just called. Got through straight away which was nice. The rep was really nice and informative. She said I'm at 75 days a week today, she could file a request now or I could call back in a week. I decided to wait it out with their being a chance I'll hear something within the next week anyhow. Our I-130 (which she explained if it's not approved then they don't go further with the I-485) is on a time frame of approximately 5 months from receipt so November/December they 'should' get to it. Our field office is on January for the I-485 so it may be a couple of months before they get to us - could be less. But I'm feeling much more relaxed having been told where everything's at. *fingers crossed* the next week proves positive :)

Just a heads up for anyone trying to get a state ID with an expired I-94 AND without the EAD; it is possible, at least in NC.

When we first got there we were told that they (the officer) would most likely not be able to process it because of the expired I-94. However, after the 2 hour wait, the officer that took all our paperwork made it happen.

We brought with us: my wife's SS card, passport, (expired) I-94, all NOAs for EAD/AP and I-485, marriage certificate, birth certificate and the bio letter. Most of it they didn't need.

She uploaded all the required forms, filled out the application online and sent it all off to some higher power office. She then called that office and inquired as what she should do next. The way she explained it was that they can see a lot more in their system about my wife's status and make a determination as to whether she can be approved or not.

Long story short; they were able to issue a state ID based on the pending I-485. This one is valid for 6 months from the AOS received date, after which we can get a permanent one as long as she has the green card by then.

Just got update that they canceled our interview at our request - which we basically never requested. We sent a letter to our Local Office where our case is handeled asking to advise us what to do since my husband will be in the training before his up coming deployment whether we have to reschedule, whether I can come alone etc. They sent us mail to let US know. So I am nervous to see what the outcome is. Whether they rescheduled or what documents they need from US. Will shall see.. I was so excited that we got interview scheduled.. Oh well. I should be used to this by now. Sorry, just needed to vent. It's always a bummer when things cant go as planned because of my husband's job.
